Default Yes! I can avoid tilt

As most of you know, I've posted a couple topics about busting my roll due to tilt. Well the last topic I made, I said my new years resolution would be to never bust my roll again. After I lost this pot, I sat out for 10 minutes, smoked a cigarette. I thought to myself, if I'm not going to play my A game then I'm going to log off. After some thinking and realization, I came back and played my A game. If this was a month ago, I would have tilted my whole roll down the drain. Not only did I lose a huge pot as a 84% favorite, the guy also left right after. So if that doesn't make you want to tilt, I don't know what does.

This hand he had AQ with ace of diamonds.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    IOS ($395.50)
    BB ($171.15)
    UTG ($231.30)
    MP ($74.50)
    CO ($178.75)
    Button ($104.05)

Preflop: IOS is SB with 9, K.
UTG raises to $6, 2 folds, Button calls $6, IOS calls $5.50, BB calls $5.

    Flop: ($24) 5, Q, 2 (4 players)
IOS checks, BB bets $7, UTG folds, Button folds, IOS raises to $27, BB calls $20.

    Turn: ($78) 9 (2 players)
    IOS bets $362.5 (All-In), BB calls $138.15 (All-In).

    River: ($578.65) T (2 players, 2 all-in)

    Final Pot: $578.65

Ok, now this hand may look like tilt. But I promise it's not. You may ask, wtf was I thinking seeing the flop? Notice all the deep stacks? This was a very laggy table (including me). Avg. pot never went below $50. After the turn, I don't know what it was, but I put him on a flush draw. His flat call on the flop and weak bet on the turn made me suspect so. After river came a blank, I raised him cause I knew I had the best hand. He mucked AK diamonds and said he only called cause he put me on a missed flush draw also. After this pot, I was back up to where I was before I took the beat. I switched back to TAG.

    CO ($55.90)

Preflop: IOS is Button with 9, 5.
2 folds, CO calls $1, IOS raises to $6, 1 fold, BB raises to $14, CO folds, IOS calls $8.

    Flop: ($29.50) 2, 7, 3 (2 players)
BB bets $6, IOS raises to $36, BB calls $30.

    Turn: ($101.50) 5 (2 players)
BB bets $8, IOS calls $8.

    River: ($117.50) 2 (2 players)
BB bets $7, IOS raises to $50, BB calls $43.

    Final Pot: $217.50

This is the hand that I think caused him to call my river raise. This was a few hands before the 95 suited hand. After he folded, I showed him my hand. He said he folded J10 and called me a bluffing donkey.

    BB checks, IOS checks.

I know I avoided tilt for sure because I didn't do any of the old things I used to do. Like go up higher limits to and try to regain my losses. After it's all said and done, I ended the session up. Now, let's see if I can avoid tilt for the next 11 months, lol!

Even though no one replied, I just want to thank anyone on FTR that's given their advice in any of my threads. Thank you to anyone who has every written a topic on avoiding tilt, bankroll management, etc. FTR is seriously responsible for where my game is today.

Those hands all look like pretty titly hands to be playing to begin with. Its a higher stakes game that I havnt played anywhere near so maybe that kinda things normal but even in a LAGgy game playing 95s to hit the 5 has got to be dodgy. I guess i just dont need to be playing cards like that at my stakes where people pay off big hands anyway

    That's awesome IOS, good job!
I'm glad my expertise is of some good use. If you'd like to be a spectator in one of my tournaments, you only have to pay $5.50.

Just remember that due to your aggressive style, you're more vulnerable to tilt because of inevitable variance that will slam you when reads go sour. Other than that GG.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

BankItPayette, I hope your not being sarcastic. I would be honored to play in one of your tourneys. Perhaps a SitNGo or heads up match?

Rondavu, I only played in this fashion due to the table structure. If you folded 2 orbits on this table you would be labeled as tight and wouldn't get any action next time you raised preflop. I understand what you mean about the inevitable variance. Like I mentioned, the average pot didn't go below $50, so money was getting traded back and forth. I played with the same 5 guys for a few hours, so I had pretty strong reads on everyone and could play any two cards in any position. I would just try to outplay them postflop. Hands barely made it to showdown. If it did make it, people were playing for stacks.

    River: ($117.50) 2Heart (2 players)
BB bets $7, IOS raises to $50, BB calls $43.

If you put him on a flush draw, then call his $7 bet and expect to take it down. What is the value in the $43 raise? These hands seem a bit overly aggressive, in my opinion. For example, playing huge pots with 8 high is usually not advised. You could probably benefit from learning how to slow down.

I personally don't see a problem with the way I played any of these hands. I would never play like this without a read.

    Hand 1 - Standard

Hand 2 - Made Villian call value bet with worst hand after he missed his draw

Hand 3 - Made Villian fold best hand when I missed my draw.

dsaxton, I've seen you post hand histories from 200NL. I'm sure you are a great solid player, so your advice is greatly appreciated. I play 6max exclusively. When I play 6max I don't play ABC poker whatsover, I am more of a feel, rather than mathematical, player. Can you elaborate on any of the statements I've made?
