couldn't agree more about the flush vs. straight thing. I will actually call bets with moderately bad pot odds with a straight draw, because i know if i connect the other guy will have no clue and i can take him to the cleaners. flush i only draw to with great odds because i know once i make it only rarely will i get much more unless someone's drawing to a lower flush.
