Default building the ultimate poker computer

welllll maybe not the ultimate... but i'm putting up 1000 dollars to build my own computer...

this computer should be able to run 8 tables of party poker skins along with poker tracker and playerview... and guild wars lol

right now i'm not really sure what to put in it! lol so that's why i'm typing this post... any computer wiz's out there that could give me a list of stuff to put in a computer that will be used only for poker (possibly guild wars too actually)...

yea.... i need it to include a 21' crt monitor... if it goes a bit over 1000 then i'll just have to live with that haha...

thanks in advance for anyone willing to put some time into this
You know what cheers me up when I'm feeling shitty?

Stacks and towers of checks I can't even see over. Playing all-night high-limit Hold'em at the Taj, "where the sand turns to gold."

Win XP, 2000, etc. will support multiple monitors. Use a dual monitor video card for two and add on as many extra PCI video cards as your Mobo/PCI bus will allow. I have an nVidia card that runs two 19in. monitors now and have been for several years. I'd never be able to go back to a single monitor!

Nvidia geforce 4 will run 2 monitors just fine.

try getting a samsung or dell LCD with 1800x1200 rate so running 4 tables with no over lap...

    xp should run fine...

be sure to have enough ram..

most recent video cards have VGA, DVI and SVideo, if you want to get funky you can have 3 monitors, but the svideo output is only good for video streams

A 1600x1200 resolution fits 4 tables perfectly. When buying an LCD, keep in mind that they are made for a specific resolution and usually look like shit when set to anything else. CRTs on the other hand will look fine at any resolution they can handle.

you can't buy a pc and a 1600x1200 LCD for 1K, CRT seems the way to go

How do the dual monitor setups work? Do you see the left hand side of the desktop on one and the right side on the other?

yeah, and you can set up where the two monitors are relatively in software so your mouse moves seamlessly across the gap
