    Default Poker Tracker Stats

I just purchased PT and used it today for the first time to analyze 1 hr and 48 minutes of play.

I went over other players in the game compared to my play. One player had a winning percentage of 55.17%. I had a winning percentage of 7.45%. This was out of 94 hands for me and 29 for him. When reviewing the hands played this fellow had great starting hands about 85% of the time - 88 or better. I played the only four hands I thought worthy of play (other than the blinds); winning three of them to finish with a + net for the day. (This is assuming I read the results correctly )

I would have to ask, which is the better player? but of course he took home the most bones.

BTW. My goal was to play (this time) tight/passive in order to satisfy the rake for my 20% bonus without losing money in the ring game. Which is what I did mostly.

100 hands doesn't even cover all the possible hands a player can receive, let alone tell if they are good or not.

maybe after 10,000 hands you can have a VAGUE idea if a player is actually good or not.

But of course and is obvious, just thinking outloud...

    55.17/7.45 = 7.40

It's pretty obvious that your opponet was 7.4 X better than you at poker.

seriously, you don't need 10K hands to tell if a player is good or not. Watch their V$IP, numbe of times they see a flop from anywhere but the BB.

It's true, if the guy was getting great cards, his V$IP will go up to super fishy levels - I think you want to look at pots won/V$IP (or wins/flops seen as a proxy, if pots aren't being bought pre-flop.

I actually think 100 hands is enough to tell what kind of player you are dealing with. I usually sticky mark them at 50. Win rate, however, is not the thing to look at.

At 100 hands I consider it a pretty good measuring stick of their play also.

Don't forget that you can trade PT hand histories with others that play your type of game..this can give you a big jumpstart on your db.

You can use PFR% to get some idea of what kind of hands you may be up against. If it's less that 5%, you can generally assume only premium hands are being raised. If they seem like a somewhat intelligent player you can narrow it down even more based on their position on the game. Really a nice edge at times.

The agg score is good too - if someone with an agg of <1 is suddenly shifting gears and raising on the turn - they obviously hit a hand. Give less respect to those with agg > 2..

There is other info that can be gathered from the other scores - we should get together on this and come up with a strategy guide for using PT numbers to put opps on hands. Nothing beats intuition I guess, but when you don't have a read on their play, PT is invaluable.
