Default What do you look for/would you like to see in a new room?

I've got to create a Final Year Project for my CompSci degree and an online poker room is seeming like a good idea.

So I'm wondering what everyone looks for in a poker room?
Anything you would like to see but no one currently offers?

It is VERY unlikely that if this project gets built it will get past the play-money stages, I cant imagine any way for me to gain the money to be able to attract people to play (big sign-on bonuses and such). But i still think its a good idea for a project and will be a laugh too.

So I'm really looking for Game ideas, rather than money ideas (rakebacks and such).

At the min i'm just trying to work out an effective and efficient way of shuffling the deck.

    So any ideas are welcome.
Do you like nice/fancy graphics? Or is something simple best?
Does everyone play on windows or would a cross-platform version be better?
    Is multi-tabling important to you?

    Sweet.

I would want an interface and functionality similar to UB. I like how you're always center of the screen no matter where you sit at a UB table.

I also like the ease of their hand history. It loads quicky and goes back to provide details (clear statement of each player's action at every step) of every hand played since the table opened, and not just those since you've sat down. Allows a great insight when you first sit down and are waiting for the blinds - just leaf through the last 10/20 hands and see what's been going on. Or, let's say you get up from a table to eat dinner and MadMax is down to his last $40. You sit down again after dinner and MadMax is up to $225. You scroll history and see what happened.

I would want a "player buddy" function similar to Ultimate Buddy, so you can note fish and sit down w/ them wherever they go. Player notes similar to those on AP, where it is really easy to make notes on any player (not just those on the buddy list).

Real-time online support similar to Noble.

Nice spread on tourneys like Party. Sometimes you scroll down UB's tourney list and just find one $30 rebuy after another. There should pretty much always be a variety of limits and games.

The site should offer tourneys that reward frequent players. AP offers tourneys where you buy in with player points to win cash. Noble offers a freeroll for any player who's played x # of hands in the last 24 hrs. Bodog has point entry tourneys as well.

That's what I can come up with off the top of my head.
Good luck, and let us know what you come up with.

All-in protection, but limited to a certain amount of times a week. Four color deck option, a timebank like on pokerchamps for tourneys...

ticker that's 20 seconds in limit, 30 seconds in no-limit
    display the pot amount
    fast action buttons

I'm telling you the basic things, just so you don't forget them

I think it'd be cool to have some features you don't really see in other poker sites. me and some friends were talking about this actually:

--A large variety of games, including obscure ones like pineapple, triple draw, or maybe even blind man's bluff!
    --HORSE MTTs and SNGs
    ---Winner-take-all SNGs
    --Heads-up shootout tourneys

Blind Man's Bluff MTTs would be entertaining.

I'm sure your prof will be more impressed in multiple games and lobby layout then timebank and 4 color deck options.
