    Default Wilson Turbo Software

Anyone out here ever use the Wilson Turbo software full version? I've used the demo, but think it's pretty cheesy (graphics). As for the calculations and how accurate they are, that's what I'm really interested in. I've read about this software in a couple of books and wanted some input from you guys out there.

I have the Hold 'Em limit game version. I think the numbers check with other sources I've seen and calculations I've done.

If I was going to do it again, I'd buy their tournament version, because as soon as I got the software I switched to NL. It was good to have to run simulations, especially for starting hand selection, but a lot of that has changed with the switch to NL.

I also used it like flash cards to learn the odds for various starting hands. The "Odds" features tells you the probability of hitting given hands (at any time, but its most useful pre-flop for me), so when you get a hand you're unsure about you can check your memory.

As for the game itself as an entertainment buy, I'd pass. It was a good learning tool, but play money poker on line is just as good if not better. You're right about the graphics, and the players are kinda weird (predictable or something, I don't know).

i have the holdem version as well, and pretty much ditto heatman's comments. it's good practice, and i will probably pick up the tourney version eventually.

    2 things i've noticed:

    1. you get evaluated on your pre and post flop play - the closer you are to 100, the "better" you are playing (per their strategy). what i've noticed, is that if you're close to 100, you're usually losing money. also, when my scores are more like 80 - 85, i'm making money.

    2. there are some funny things in the their strategy recommendations. e.g. you are on the button with AsKd, you and 3 callers see a flop of 3hThJh, the first caller comes out betting, the other players call, the software recommends you should call, and yet this is a clear fold to me (you've missed the flop in a multiway pot with a flush/str draw on the board).

    still, fun for drills.

I would say the exact same things (I have the holdem version as well), horrible graphics and design, but very good for practice. I think it is a lot better then play money though. I think it really makes you play pretty tight. The only person other than me that it has actually said "you missed some bets" was my dad who "is tighter than a baby turtles anus."
I like the "Challenge Mike" feature which lets you and "Mike the computer" play the exact same hands and keeps track of who is winning more money. I find with my experience though that when I win I win more than "Mike" and when I lose to "Mike" I lose less than I win. I think that it plays a little tighter than I would. Of course you are playing with "Play Money" here too, which has an effect on everyone play. I like the "challenge" though because it only takes 15 minutes maybe, to play the 50 hand challenge 3 times. The hands played analysis is very good.
If I knew someone that wanted to play limit Holdem, and never had, a S&M holdem book and this program would be a great start.

$89 buckaroos - but that includes tax and shipping. i think the tourney version is $59.

you can download a version to try - it gives you 10 hands worth for testing.

i watched rounders again the other night, and everytime i see your avatar, i hear john malkovich's russian accent in my head!

I have both holdem packages and generally agree with all comments given.

In addition, the software does have some very powerful testing facilities that I am sure almost no one utilizes to full affect. As a programmer I am delving into this aspect of the software and find it very worth while. If you like asking questions and doing your own research then you will like this part of the progam.
