A strategy question

Lets say in a weak shorthanded game I find it somewhat easy to steal the blinds or knock limpers out of the pot. If I find myself on the BB with a medium PP such as 77 or 88 and there are two limpers who I think I have a decent chance to fold w/ a 4x raise is it worth it?

Should I take the free check, hope for a set, and hope to break someone or should I just try and take the blinds? Which would make me more money over time?

Sometimes Im going to get called, but the majority of the time I'll be able to take the pot on the flop. However, at other times it just money down the drain when I get callers.

Also, add in the fact that I want people to see me out there raising a lot so that they will be paying me off more often when I do hit hands.

I think it could be profitable most of the time...If you hit the set you are setting yourself up to get paid off because you can lead instead of c/r for value. Second you are setting yourself up for the follow bet into known weakness...as long as you dont have a problem check folding the turn it sounds like a fairly good winning play at this type of table. :cool:

Yeah if the conditions are right i'll raise 77-99. You have to remember that these hands are a coinflip against AK, so if you are confident in your reading ability then it is often good to raise them. IMO you don't even need to look at these hands as stealing hands, you just need to tread carefully with them.

Another thing i like to do is when i call raises and the flop comes T HIgh or lower, i will raise or check raise my opponent because atleast 2/3rds of the time my hand is good. Again you need to have good reads but it can be a very powerful play, especially in tourneys.
