6max $25nl on party compared to 0.01/0.02 on pokerstars

hey guys

just wondering if there is a discernable difference in ths standard of play between these limits (0.01/0.02 usually has a typical standard buy in of $2).

the reason that i ask is that a couple of months ago i spent a lot of time playing $25 6max on partypoker, and i couldn't consistently make money, however this is because i was still working on my game. in the last couple of months my shorthanded game has improved by leaps and bounds (in particular my postflop play), and i can now consistently beat the penny games.. (i'm playing penny games atm because i'm a bit skint)

just wondering if its probably worth having another go at $25nl 6max when i have the cash...

I like the stars NL ring better but if you wanna play party I say give it a go when your BR is at about $500.

i did play a lot of nl ring before on partypoker too, but because the hands took so long to get dealt i get bored and end up chatting or checking email and thus getting distracted. i've found the 6max games to be more fun and more profitable since you get more opportunities to exploit bad plays. its often pretty hard to pick up on peoples betting patterns in ring, because they play less hands.. so you just end up camping and waiting for big flops or nice premium hands, and i can be a restless and impatient person sometimes.. i like playing more poker!

you should multitable...

i've only tried multitabling a couple of times, on the $25 limit tables on pp. i kinda avoided it because i thought it was stunting my poker growth.. ie when i was multitabling i was making snap decisions and paying less attention to each game, and so ignoring many of the finer points that i ended up learning from just concentrating on one game (such as reads / postflop strategy). i am guessing that the best games to multitable are the full ring games or the limit games.. limit being a bit more of a mechanical numbers game, and full rings because they require less attention overall..

just wondering, does anyone here succesfully multitable 6max nl and make money consistently?

I multi-table 6max NL .10/.20 ($20 buyin) at LadBrokes/PokerMillion and have been consistently making profit (the odd session I may break even or actually lose a bit but overall im well in the +)

I could only afford a bankroll of $40 and managed to increase that and started 2tabling, then as that got easy and my BR increased I added a third table, then a fourth and now sometimes I treat myself to a 5th. After 1.5 weeks my BR has steadily increased to $540 :D it is quite tedious and tiresome sometimes grueling it out for 6-9 hrs multitabling the low stakes - but i really need to earn some bucks and increase my BR!

Interestingly my starting hand requirements are completely different to whats mentioned above, I play super super tight and basically monster camp - at these stakes I hope people are generally unaware at the table and don't notice my tight play, sometimes they might and I'll get little action if ive had dry cards for ages - but most the time i get action. With 4-5 tables going simultaneously this style of play is alot easier.

I basically raise in any pos with AA KK QQ AKs AKo AQs AQo KQs KQo. Be the aggressor preflop (raise or re-raise) to isolate to 1 or 2 callers for the flop. Then pretty much regardless of the flop and your position you can throw out a 3/4 pot sized bet - this is +EV play and most the time you take it down there and then if you do get called its important to slow right down and check/fold out of the hand.

I limp in mid - late position with some hands: AJs AJo ATs KJs KJo but i just dont like playing ATs ATo or QJs QJo cos they are dominated hands and can get you in trouble if you hit your pair.

I play the SB as I do the button and chuck most stuff, only limping very nice hands or raising my usual raising hands.

Poket pairs are limped anywhere even behind a raise (if its less than 10% of your stack and the raisers stack).

I've been playing like a robot and am starting to get a bit tired of it, I sware it would be easy to make a bot play my rules and make $$$ easily.

Ive decided to mix up my play a bit when I feel a table has caught on to my tight rock image and arent biting to my pre-flop raises - this should add soem more depth and fun to my game.

You're probably aware of the tactics / strats ive mentioned if youve been beatign the pennie games btu i thought id mention them for anyone else.

I usually suggest 25x the max buy-in for your BR to play the game... so party 25nl would be $625... double that for 6max...
