AQ with Q-Q-x flop
After 3 people called with obvious trips and no draws on the board, I feared someone had flopped a boat. My plan was to slow the hand down as much as possible, because this could help me both offensively and defensively. Anyone fold to the bet on the river?
Thanks for the feedback.

Ouch. I wouldn't fold it. I think I may have gotten greedy and raised the river thinking he had a Qx. So I say, good discipline.
-
Interesting, I just watched this almost exact hand play out in the World Poker Tour today (on TIVO) - except one guy had KQ... same flop QQ6, and the other guy had 66.
Both guys went all in...
Can't really get away from that one... I think it was well-played.
-
yeh well played flat calling the river and not re-raising, nice move.
-
The problem is that you just called all the way down. If you bet and raise you can get more money in when you're ahead and possibly bail if the guy is making it obvious he has you beat. Of course, at 25NL this is a hard one to get away from so I can't blame you for losing money on this hand. Just get out of that passive calling mode and you're good to go on the hand.
If your opponent has the nuts, they probably won't let you showdown for cheap. However, if you're not sure whether or not you're ahead in other hands, a flop or turn raise can slow them down and make it cheaper than just calling.
-
Yeah, there's virtually no value in slow-playing this. Raise on the flop and turn, or bet if checked to. I doubt I'd fold this, especially at this level.
-
Fold. The baord is showing a flush and he played it like a drawing hand: AdQd :-)
Seriously, I would call that one too..
-
i would raise the turn, and then you would pretty much have good odds to call his reraise all in because so many people make this play with q10,qj,qk or worse. I've seen some terrible bluffs at that level.
however, i think you need to raise the turn just to knock out draws or make them pay.
