These hand histories suck, it doesn't show what you were dealt. Can you specify your cards in each hand?

I'm guessing on the first one you had a six with a crappy kicker, since you were on the big blind and played the hand like you had a six. I'm also guessing he called you down with a stronger six or pocket eights, or maybe pocket fives, and robbed you blind. Did you have the boat or just trips? When he raises to $30 on the river I'm probably just calling unless I had pocket 8s or 68.

The second one it's harder to guess about. You obviously had a jack: KJ, QJ? There's a lot of straight possibilities out there and you could be outkicked, too. I'd probably bet less on the turn or even check, and check/fold the river, unless I had a read on the opponent as a flush-chaser or a fish. Then I'm probably calling. Depends on my hand though. I'd be more likely to call with AJ or KJ, because getting outkicked becomes a non-issue. If I had AJ on that hand I'm pretty sure I'm calling. There's just too high a probability he chased the club flush and missed.

Third hand: did you have high cards (AK/AQ/AJ) or an overpair? I feel like you'd re-raise the flop with an overpair, so I'm guessing AK or something like that. AT is not a bad guess for him, but there's a real risk that he's min-raising with a set and trying to milk you. And if you had AK and hit your ace on the turn, that's a terrible turn of events for you. Did he raise again after you bet the turn?

LOL I'm such a monkeyfucker. This is the 20th time people have told me that my hand histories don't show me my cards and I keep not doing it. It shows my cards at the end if there's a showdown but I'm going to go back up and edit it now. You get to see my cards, just not theirs!

First hand: OK, so you boated on the river but the rest of the hand (and the river play as well) indicates he wasn't too worried. I'm guessing he had pocket 8s.

Second hand: JTo and you're limping, UTG? Tsk tsk. I'd probably bet less on the turn and check/fold the river. You might still be winning if he's on a flush draw or something, but your hand isn't strong enough to stand up to even QJ or KJ, which he also might have.

Third hand: re-raise the flop for more information. I'm not sure if he has a set or a ten. I'd be very cautious of flat-calling like you did; it may get more money in the pot, but you need to feel very confident that all he has is tens. And if he had AT, that turn card is a mess. If he raises again on the turn I'd fold.

No, I'd just try for a cheap showdown. You did boat on the end, that's hard to fold. I'd flat call his first raise instead of re-raising. I might even check and call whatever bet he threw out.

Probably, which is why I would have bet less on the flop. I've actually scaled back my flop aggression enormously - I'd bet 1/2 to 2/3 of the pot there, and if he min-raises (from $6 to $12 or from $8 to $16) I'd come back with probably double his bet ($24 or $32 to go). Most of my fury is reserved for the turn nowadays - you've seen more cards and it's easier to decide if the hand is worth your stack or not.

I think that what has helped me adjust is to slow down slightly on my flop and preflop play and concentrate on the more important turn and river decisions. Their hands and where you stand become much more defined on the turn and river because on the flop a cold call can mean a lot of things. I will still cont. bet most of the time depending on the table, but like I said earlier I've narrowed my range of raising hands in EP and in LP vs several limpers and it has helped.

Anyways, yea a smaller continuation bet would have made the JJ hand easier, but after that I just couldn't reraise to 50 with an overpair. I had a feel he had the ten, but it wasn't much of a read and I didn't trust it enough. Maybe I should have reraised and gotten him trapped with a lesser hand instead of scaring him out on the turn.

I think in a lot of respects you and I are on parallel paths, Smackin. We're evolving in similar ways.

1. easy to get away from that hand when the flush draw gets made. Edit: just noticed you made a boat on the river. Would have payed that off too.

2. I'm not sure about the turn bet there. I may have backed off a little, being out of position, and bet $7. If he calls that, I would feel better about checking the river to induce the bluff. If he raises it, I would have to reevaluate my hand (maybe put him on JQ or JK).
