Got greedy again and paid dearly

This guy had only been there for one orbit and played 2 hands, so I didn't have a read. Not sure if that matters. I hit the nut flush and didn't want to scare anyone away. When the six hit, I said to myself - what's the chances he just hit a boat? The way he bet, looked like he was on a draw like me, because you would think he would bet higher with two diamonds on the flop. Then you would think he would bet higher to find out where he was on the turn. I was waiting for a bet higher than .25 to play back at but did not want to scare anyone out. I thought about raising the turn but I wanted to maximize my winnings. I then went for the check-raise. The rest is history - along with my stack.

As a general rule I don't pay to draw to a flush on a paired board and I don't raise a bet on a made flush on a paired board. Also, 90% of the time that big bet on the end means a boat.

With a 3-flush on the board most players will not make that raise unless they filled up.

Also I think I would raise the turn here. I would make it $1 to go. You want to build the pot here and represent strength. Once the 6h falls I then check/call behind as I no longer hold the nuts and, since I already represented strength on the turn, can only expect to get called by a strong hand and will get a fold from a weak hand.

You should have folded preflop. Open limping UTG + 1 w/ A8 suited is a bad play. If someone raises you have to fold. If you hit your A, you might be outkicked. Your only real hope is to flop 2 pair, or make your flush which doesn't happen nearly enough to justify this play.

Bet the turn, you have the nuts here. Build the pot to get more money in on the river if the board doesn't pair.

Once the board pairs, just call behind. The small river bet is a trap bet. If you're going to re raise because you think your hand is best do it smaller (2-3$) and be prepared to fold if opponent comes over the top.

First off fold preflop.

Once you're in the hand, I'd consider betting the flop and repping a king that's scared of the flush. If your flush hits, it's a little more disguised and you can bet it out on the turn without losing people. Flushes are hard to get paid with sometimes, because people are generally aware of suited cards on the board.

I never play Axs to pair the Ace and yes it was out of position. The table was tightening up a bit so I tried to limp in. I would have folded to any raise. I wasn't getting anything playable for a long time so I figured I would ease my positional play. Bad move. By check/calling, I have made lots of money on this hand because anyone with Jack or higher seems to think they have the best flush if you don't raise or reraise them. I'll have to check my poker tracker stats, but I'm pretty sure it's been very profitable even with the missed flops. I just fold if I don't hit or if I can't draw very cheaply.

I seriously thought about raising the turn but I thought they were on a flush draw and wanted to test if somebody else hit a higher flush by min-raising. The third player in the hand was a lock to try to bluff on the river, so I figured once they raiseed I could reraise and take down a larger pot. I think this guy got a lucky river and played it very well once he hit. I told him nice play and left the table. Lesson learned however. I'll raise that turn next time. If somebody has 1 or 2 pair, they will most likely fold with the flush on the board. Only person staying in may have second flush. Thanks for the insight.
