That's a different topic. We'll call that - "When to Bet on the River". If he doesn't bet the river then it's 50/50 on whether he was also on the draw or is holding a weak ace. In this case I would ask myself - "Who would call me here IF I DO BET?" I'm thinking Only a weak ace would call - which means Only the hand that beats me will call me and ANY hand I beat will fold. So I check here. But that's the question. WHO WOULD CALL MY RIVER BET when I have 2nd best hand? If I'm betting because I'm trying to win more money, I want to be sure I'm going to take the hand when he calls. If I'm betting to get him to fold.... we'll, that's the busted flush draw thing in the sooted sucker post.. So, if I bet 2nd pair, what's he going to call with after he already called a raise on the flop? I'm thinking only an A. Otherwise he will simply fold. Why risk money that won't bring you any new money. Check it. Turn em over. And see what the guy bet with on the flop, then called a raise with only to check the turn and river.
