CO just sat down an orbit ago with a short buy. Looking loose/passive fishy.

I feel I can put him on a very narrow range here.

Flop: ($17.50) 7:heart:, 6:heart:, A:club: (2 players)
Fnord checks, CO checks.

Turn: ($17.50) 4:diamond: (2 players)
Fnord thinks....checks, CO bets $7, Fnord raises to $40...

Mixed feelings about my line here. I don't think I'd do this to a stronger player.

What's your hand range?

I don't think he has an ace. I also don't think he can call that without being ahead (he needs a set, and I don't think he does), so I say he's pretty much going to instafold if he believes you one bit.

I'd make a smaller raise for value here.

The only spot I see him calling here behind is with kicker trouble. But I really don't think he has an ace. But such a large overbet isn't getting called by KK, QQ IMHO.

It's not an over-bet, per PLHE rules, it's pot. Also, I wanted to put a little "I'm making you play for all your chips" into it to illicit the "fuck you I call" reaction I was going for.

He called with QQ, I'll send you the HH number if you want to look it up.

I think a lot of posters here drasticly under-estimate the ability of our opponents to make really stupid plays. Particularly the random guys that drop in with short buys.

All that being said, I think there might be better ways to get it all in...

I believe you, you don't have to prove it. I certainly take your word at face value.

I used to go for those kinds of plays a lot, but I've been slowing down recently and making value bets when I don't think I'm weak. I don't know, it seems like even a moron could figure out his QQ wasn't good here. I'd expect him to call a minraise or a bit more, though.

I love that play on the turn vs a flush draw. I get a lot of calls there, believe it or not.

But in finality, I think you'll make more value betting that. You disagree, or was your read that good?

On what street? I'm not all that keen on check/raising the min. We're at least taking it to $20.

No, I don't minraise. 20ish sounds right. You can get the rest in on the river.

It's kinda fustrating really. I keep making bets these fish shouldn't call and they call anyway. Then they'll get really aggressive, I'll call down and see all sorts of crap. If this keeps happening, I'll just have to take all this money and move up to 1/2 NL.

Yeah, I personally like the guys that call down when I have a hand, and fold to cbets when I miss.

My favorite players are the ones who call the raise and re-reraise all-in with something like J2 (I pick J2 because I saw it once). Talk about donators.
