That being said, anything calling on that board either thinks you're bluffing or has you beat, except the ocassional idiot with QT or Q9.

I'd try and slow down and control pot size; that being said, I'm not getting away from this, even for all my chips.

only thing you can do better is slow down. I think i would call station this. By raising your pushing off hands you beat and getting sucked in by hands you don't beat. Only thing you might beat is slowplayed AA KK and your only scaring them off the way this is played. You also beat sucker Qs but theres no need to let the pot go out of control.


You cold call the flop, turn, river, maybe you save a few bucks.

Or at least, even if this flop reraise is good, i see no reason to bet this turn. What hand are you trying to get value from.

Reads? Whats this guy's image? What is his calling range.

9-9 is a hand you can put him on, as well as KQ, AQ and so fourth. Check raising as a continuation bet often screams monste, especially when a lot of people continuation bet if they miss or hit (but not as strong)... and if this guy is calling your check-raise, you need to slow down. If he's tight then you have to realize his calling range and realize you are probably behind

but at the same time, as this level, its hard to get away from it. I sit waiting to hit a J or a Q, but otherwise slow down and maybe check/call river (if all the money isn't there already)

Others said it. Slow down. I play the flop the same but on the turn I have to worry about what he has. I may not be able to fold it but I think I check the turn to see what his action is. I very likely find myself check calling here (all the while calling myself weak for not pushing it harder, hehe).

You're gonna wind up all in on the river no matter what. His call after your flop raise doesn't give you enough information to fold, could be a boat, weaker Q, stronger Q, a draw, another pocket pair... The pot is too big at this point for you to bet less on the turn and then get away from it if he comes over. The best online players in the world might find a fold there on the turn with a real strong read after villain raises you, but I think most of us go broke just like you. Nh.

Your flop line sucks.

In any case, I don't have a problem getting stacked here.

What do you like on that flop? It definitely looks favorable but with flush and straight draws out there I think you want to protect... do you advocate a larger raise, smaller raise, or smooth-call?

Check/raising gives away too much information and gives thinking players a good chance to laydown lots of hands. He lead pre-flop and should lead this flop.

He has 2 diamonds in hand, so protecting against draws is just silly.

Quoted for truth. The ones who call are the ones who you have to believe beat you or its a close call... hard for someone to chase a flush on a check-raise and call

As for weaker Queens, does Q2 up to Q-10 call the pfr? Q-10/Q-9 may call the raise if the person is laggy, but we have no idea on their image.

And a higher pocket wouldn't make much sense without the re-raise PF... it's tough

Different stakes, but worth saying that the .5/1 NL players will smooth call big pockets often enough that I give it serious consideration when facing some players post-flop.

You are correct, sir, but wouldn't the same thinking players definitely disapply foot from accelerator with two callers? If you check it again on the turn you might only be 50% likely to get another bet from anyone (except someone who has you beat), and you may then end up giving away two free cards to anyone's draw. You probably would get one call on a river value bet, but is that more likely than if you raised the same amount on the flop? (Answer: probably.)

(I am not fond of these kind of hands because frankly it seems like you seldom get paid off unless you're lucky enough to have a complete idiot in the hand with you. And half the time when you *think* you're getting paid off, it seems like you end up against AQ or KQ or 99 and lose your shit.)

raise the turn, if he pushes over the top probably make the call but possibility to lay it down holding only QJ.
if your going to check raise the flop (i dont like that holding only QJ on full ring) then when he calls ill kepp showdown cheap here for a fear of being beaten. If opp pushes i dont think you escape this. I agree with fnord i dont mind losing my stack here to the full house

I bet this flop with air a lot, hence I'm almost always betting when I have it.
