A call on the turn

I am just curious to see if other people think the same as me here. I'm talking about the call on the turn, why do you think I made that call and would you have done the same? I played the rest of the hand according to that read. My read on the player is a little tight/aggressive.

If I'm continuing on the turn, I'm pushing.

a 5 has you beat, as well as a flush.

But, yeah, if you're going to call his reraise on the turn, you may as well push.

Agreed on pushing, cause I don't like the check-call on the river....

But as far as reads go... I don't think a set would just flat call on that flop, so I don't think he has the boat, a flush draw would not re-raise the turn like that. So the only real hand he can have is something like A10, K10, pocket nines or eights, and maybe A5. Also his river AI bet screams that he wants you to fold and not call. You have most of those hands beat, so I say nh sir.

Why push? I'm pretty sure he would not call a 4x raise with A5, he seems to be too tight for that. And if he had A5 he would not just call my pot-bet either I think.

A flush draw would not play like that in my opinion. Would you raise when you missed your out on the turn and the card that hit actually made your hand weaker? If he wanted to be aggressive with his flush draw he'd raise the flop I think.

i would be desperately afraid of a set here, although, if he really fills up on the turn, im sure hes content to just let you build the pot for him. i guess you just pray hes on JJ (until the river hits that is). i dont see what you can really beat here. i disagree with pushing, because id only make that play if i was afraid of overcards, which really doesnt seem to be the case, ie AK doesnt play out like this.

We posted at the same time it seems, storm75m, I was partly thinking the same when it comes to hands he might hold. Already mentioned what I thought about the draw, same as you.

When it comes to holding a set, I belive he might have slowplayed it, but if he first decided to slowplay it he would not make that raise when his hand actually got a lot stronger, I think he'd wait till the river with making the raise then. He might have put me on a flush draw after all, and then he'd want me to catch the flush and then take my stack.

So, I am pretty confident that I am ahead. I don't really think his betting makes much sense, not really sure what he has, but a ten is my best guess, or I wonder if he is just bluffing. It seems he really wants me to fold with his bet, so I thought by calling and checking the river I'd have more chance of getting all his chips by him going all in to try to make me fold.

In this case he was just bluffing, AQo, and things went the way I hoped. Thinking about it more I see how pushing would be good as well though, if he had AT/KT he probably would have called it, but bluffing like now he'd fold.

Most big winners like to get money into the pot with the best hand before the river. A flush draw will always pay-off on the turn, but only sometimes on the river.

It looks to me like he wants to get in all of the money and/or is attacking your weak turn bet.

i was gonna say AK, so i was close. he was clearly trying to rep the 5's. unfortunately for him, your read on him rules out him having a single 5 in his hand, and quads hit so infrequently that 55 can basically be discounted. nh.

Exactly my thinking. It's all in or fold on the turn. I really don't like calling that reraise OOP when there's a good number of scare cards that can come out. What do you do if an A, K , T, or heart comes out? Ignoring the actual results, it puts you in a very difficult spot and being first to act only compounds the difficulty of the situation. The only reason for taking your line is if you think villian's on a stone cold bluff and will push the river with crap when you check it to him. If this was your read, then nh and well played. Otherwise I like pushing or folding on the turn.
