{EDIT - Second thoughts.}
Deleting threads that only a few would find reprehensible also causes conflict and gives off the idea that mods are power hungy nazis. Hence 'rillas catch-22.
Muxy angry that I locked and thread, lamb angry I deleted I thread, VQC, gabe, boost asking me to please lock/delete those threads. And little 'ole me in the middle.
In the end for good ole' peace making me, is that you are the moderator of this forum. This isn't gabes, muxy's, vqc's, or anyone else's forum to moderate. It is your job to make sure that it represents what you (as well as the Admins) want it to be. Since the most drama comes in this forum, I would post a sticky saying what my rules for decorum were. After that just enforce those rules.
And that's why I made the thread. What rules would you like to see enforced. I really need to set a guideline to end discussion about what to do with threads. And since this is the forum of the people, I shall let you little peons decide your own fate.
I don't see the problem with the suicide thread. That is a legit online topic that has quite a bit of buzz recently.
If you are offended by suicide, just don't read it. You can't lock/ban everything you don't agree with people.
I'm pro-suicide. It's a moral crime to prevent stupid people from removing themselves from the gene pool.
first step to the downfall of any forum is overzealous moderation. deleting anything controversial is fucking retarded.
Will you be pro-suicide if one of your children is suicidal? Depression is a disease.Quote:

When you dont act the clown 'rilla, which at SOME inappropriate times you do, you are actually exellent at the job you do. So from me and obviosuly to reiterate others use you're own judgement. If you think the threads are offensive lock 'em send a pm and warn people.
I think providing threads arent offensive, and im guilty of that, then threads should be ok. But once they get threating/offensive they need locking instantly.
I concur.Quote:

I want all the Moderators to moderate with a light hand and only when absolutely necessary.
Pfft, like I care what you think.Quote:

Suggestions... hmmmm...
I think the best way to go about cleaning up FTR as a whole is pretty simple. Start banning people that destroy the community. I'm not suggesting that FTR be ruled by an iron-fist by any means.. and certainly everybody makes mistakes that are forgivable. However, there are some members that just seem to generate so much controversy time and time again, it's time to start giving them warnings, and if they don't clean up their act, ban them.
I don't really see the need for strict rules, it should be determined on a case by case basis by the mods/admins. That's the way I'd like to see it done.
Strict rules make the moderators job easier. That’s why he wants them. They are also hard to come up with.
I would suggest:
I will moderate my forum how I see fit. If you don’t like it, send me a PM. Posts bashing me about how I moderate will get moderated. In general, posts bashing members will get moderated…that is where the line is drawn. If you disagree with me locking a particular thread or deleteing a particular post/thread then send me a PM and I will consider it. I may or may not change my mind but I will consider it.
If a controversial thread degenerates into member bashing then it is likely to get locked. Police yourselves and your fellow posters and I won’t have to.
What about a system where anyone can motion to lock and the motion needs 3 concurrances before it takes affect or something like that. Power to the people etc.
Or maybe I should create a Senate and Judicary commity to maintain a complex system of checks and balances with endless loopholes.
I think I'm gonna run with "People will be resepctful and light hearted, and no subject shall get locked unless it is an extreme case." Though I disagree with what you say, I shall fight to the death for your right to say it! Exteme cases will be flame wars or something that I personally believe to have gone to far. Like disrespecting my mother.
I believe nothing should be locked or deleted (outside of blatant spamming) unless it is personally attacking or defaming another forum member.Quote:

rilla, i suggest you don't take suggestions on moderating, except for this one.
Sorry, but we actually did have this episode before. I asked that all threads in the commune have just a shread of content. I didn't know what hot hot heat was and he even said he didnt have any content so I locked it down. That one was by the book.Quote:
