Tricky turn with KK and a scare card.

UTG ($1.72)- just sat down

MP2 ($2.48)
CO ($2.46) - 40VPIP 13PFR after 45 hands. no reads otherwise
Button ($5.20) - sees 50% of flops. Likes calling cbets on the flop but fold to them on the turn.

Preflop: Hero is SB with K:club:, K:diamond:.
UTG raises to $0.04, 2 folds, CO raises to $0.10, Button calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.60, 1 fold, UTG calls $0.56, CO calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50.

Flop: ($2.42) 3:diamond:, J:diamond:, J:spade: (4 players)
Hero bets $2, UTG calls $1.12 (All-In), CO folds, Button calls $2.

Turn: ($7.54) A:diamond: (3 players, 1 all-in)
Hero checks, Button checks.

River: ($7.54) 4:club: (3 players, 1 all-in)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: $7.54


What do i do when the A:diamond: hits? what if i get bet at? I didnt value bet bacause no hand which doesnt have at least an A will call. I was happy to give a free card on the turn when i had the K:diamond:

push.. there is already 350BB in the pot (that's so weird to say :)), if the ace helped him, so be it. He would have had to put 30BB in preflop and 100BB in on the flop to hit his ace...

push the turn, or at least the river. A check into a dry pot means he has nothing that would be beating you.

I like checking here. You have almost no fold equity. If you're not beat on the turn it is highly unlikely he would catch up to you by the river. The only thing that can happen on the turn with your position is that you bet it and either get fold (no real value) or get reraised (which basically means you lose money). I don't think there is any value in betting a runner flush draw either... if it does hit and he's got high diamond, you'll get paid off a little, and if he has no diamond, he definitely won't call. Betting flush on paired board is also tricky.

All in all I don't see much reason to bet here. Just mho.

I agree with all of this. I like checking here. The river is unlikely to improve a hand that's behind you on the turn, and betting will fold almost every hand you're ahead of while keeping better hands around. A turn bet serves little purpose.

Would you say the same for a river bet or is it ok to bet the river now ive shown weakness on the turn? My guess was that they stil wouldnt call the river unless i was beaten so ichecked again. Also, hes a passive player so if he bets it isnt a bluff. I chose to check/ fold

That is probably a most educated guess.

It's an oft-repeated and simple slogan but one has to think about the purpose of one's actions. Do you want a call? Why? Who will call? Do you want a fold? Why? Who will fold? Do you want a reraise?
