what do you do in these situations?

one of my very first hands at the table and no reads at all. i probably shouldnt raise hands like these until I've been there for a while and have some reads and i also think i played this hand poorly regardless of whether I won or lost the showdown.

I no like. You are in position facing an unknown opponent with an unknown hand. You are probably ahead... but not exactly a lock. I just don't like getting all my $$ in on the flop here. I would with 2-suited, but I am not that afraid of straight draws and you are smoked/smoking anything else (set vs TP or KK).

Use your position - call the 1st raise. I probably call down any bets on turn/river. Raise something that looks kinda weak.

Should've just called the initial check-raise. and see what the turn brings bet-wise. Does AK fire back so hard here normally against a new player to the table? I doubt it...This hand smells bad to me, and it's time to let it go. Top 2 is a hard hand to let go of, but I'd say this is one of those situations.

Top 2 is next to bottom set. Would you lay down a bottom set? In general all silly min-raising means that they have a monster but give the board I think its decision time on the flop.

Flopping top two vs a set in a HU pot is really difficult to get away from so you have to take a line that will maximise the money you extract from hands that you are ahead of (AK-AT). Call the flop raise and raise the turn or river if you feel you are ahead or just call down. Contrary to popular belief calling is a valuable tool.

what about your play do you specifically think you executed poorly? with 2 pr on A5, as the hand goes along, you're not going to like it more. since he doesn't have a deep stack, it's tough to really do any pot size control by calling the CR and playing from there. i am glad to get my money in on that spot because w/ a 2nd pair of 5s its not gonna get much better for you on the turn or river. if you are going to reraise his CR, better to do it with a bit more force.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I got a question about 6-max.

What is it about 6-max that makes it so much more popular than full ring? It seems like it would be less profitable than full ring, just because of the general lack of implied odds.

theres more fish in 6 max, and since there are less people at the table, you have to play more hands, so you can take money from fish faster

I play for stacks here too.
