A bankroll isn't for rent. A bankroll doesn't go to pay the bills. A bankroll doesn't pay for the corvette you backed into. A bankroll doesn't pay for new duds and shit.
"A good player understands that the winnings he collects at the poker table are operating capital. This capital is not to be used for anything other than playing poker. The bankroll is the lifeline of a poker player. Without it, it is impossible to make a profit. If you win enough money at a certain limit, you either pocket the winnings or use it to step yourself up to higher limits."
How would you have paid for the fees if you didn't play poker? I'm sure you would've come up with a way. Grant it, I doubt you're playing poker for a living. Regardless though, that is horrible BR management.

:tsk: :boohoo:
Don't lie miffed. We all know you tried to play 2000nl and came up short. Good game.
I hate you miffed
It is not horrible bankroll management BECAUSE he is not playing for a living.Quote:

If that's how you cheer somebody up, I sure don't want to see you cutting somebody down!!Quote:

I picked up poker bcoz it seemed like a way to pay bills/make money without having to work for it.
Something for nothing you might say.
So yeah, its horrible br management. But also it isnt my money that i have now pocketed.
Anyway, nicelink LOL but its back to 20NL for me !

I knew miffed when we were growing up. He was always an asshole, but I just pretended that I liked him. After a while he started doing stupid things like spend all his BR on uni fees; this is when I stopped being his friend and realise what an idiot he is.
My life is worse because he is alive.
i like it when bad things happen to people i hate. amirite guys?
you all so mean :(
Doggz. Im 22 and have a whole life ahead of me. Twice now i have moved through the limits from 10NL to 100NL, 200NL at times and paid off a large amount of debt that would have taken up a fair portion of any earnings i would/will make over the next 10 years or so. Yes, its horrible br management and will over the short term kill my potential earnings. But i have to consider the fact both that i may never be good enough to play real high tsakes poker and therefore my poker earnings as such will always be limited to a certain max amount and the other idea that i may end up earning a hellofalot more from a job than poker.
Needless, i respect the fact that you believe i should be building as big a roll as possible, i just beleive that all good things will come to those who work for it. Now my br is totally for one purpose, poker. I have no need to touch it. Those fees would have leaked money for a while, making the 5.5k a shrewd investment now, despite it killing my potential income now.

Seriously though that really sucks. Whehre are you playing 20NL? Isnt that a bit high for your BR? GL making it back up there. Ill race you too it
Cheer up your bankroll is still bigger than mine :(
That sucks man. I feel ya. I'm down to $2500 now after winning 5K and playing games I suck at. Now I don't feel so bad. Yaaaaah!
Yeah it's not that bad. At least you got to spend your money. I deposited $200 2 months ago and ran it up to $500 at 50nl, then I moved up to 100nl and brought my bankroll up to $2000 within a week of depositing. Over the next 2 weeks I went from 100nl with a $2000 bankroll to 600nl on a $24,000 bankroll, only to lose all but $2000 at 100/200 and 50/100 on party...
this thread just got 4x more awesome.Quote:

Its a simple choice, and poker is just a game to you right? If it is your way of paying the bills then you dont take a large ammount out to pay for something you want, ie. a uni fee... that would be like spending your savings and quitting your job to get that new car you want. DOESNT WORK.
This is however quite different, a choice of which is of more value to you. Uni vs the chance to play poker at a certain level. Your choice is fine, just as would be the choice to skip uni and play poker in my eyes. Either way works, its not going to leave you in financial difficulty. And you can easily redevelop a sizeable bankroll.
I recently chose to cash out to aid in the purchase of an electric piano. Music is how i pay my bills so this is a necessary purchase. But it means i'm in the same boat as you, drop the stakes, and rebuild. I started poker because its fun. If you did that also then this shouldnt phase you. Its still fun, you just happen to get money aswell.
So get back out there and own those 20NL fish.
