def. nirvana, bush and rage were my fav 90s stuff.
Yeah thats a pretty lame list... i mean c'mon, no Ace of Base? haha
seriously there is 0 "grundge bands" on that list wich was probably the biggest musical movement in the 90's. The second would have to be Gangsta Rap and that is lacking too. This list is soft
Oh my sweet christ. WTF are these guys thinking?Quote:
Hazard Marx, Richard (5:18)
8 Can't Help Falling in Love UB Forty (3:29)
9 U Can't Touch This MC Hammer (4:15)
10 Ice Ice Baby (Edit) Vanilla Ice
Keeping in mind that this is obviously a pop station putting out this track, but goddamn, that is one sad list.

Bush, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins (melon collie and the infinite sadness owns you.), Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Beastie Boys, Live (yay for good PA bands, throwing copper was a great album.), some Radiohead and Tool should be thrown on there too.
gish has more sentimental value for me, as it was my first Pumpkins album. Melon Collie has outstanding tracks, but I think Siamese Dream is the best overall album.Quote:

hmm, Siamese is my favorite over all, but I was in 5th grade when Melon Collie was big, so it just has more value for me.Quote:

Yeah, Yellow Bedwetter is a must mention of Pearl Jam's.
Dissident, Rearviewmirror, Indifference, Corduroy, Nothingman, Evenflow, Jeremy, Alive, Oceans...so many good fucking songs. PJ owns.
5 I Touch Myself Divinyls (3:47)
That is the only song on the list I like, and it's not because of the music.
Supposedly this year at Lollapalooza in Chitown. Who knows though...Quote:

You quoted my favorite two bands. I don't think I've ever talked to you tyson but you're the man now in my book. What about early bush and green day? Also two really good bands back in the day (not a big fan of green day now).Quote:

god, i just remembered a really good 90's band.
silverchair, they were the shit.
90's music definitely rocked. 80's doesn't even compare. And I for one just haven't kept up w/ music that much in the 00's.
Among the best albums not named yet, I'd say Tom Waits' Bone Machine and Morphine's Yes.
Nobody mentioned the Chili Peppers - they just didn't stand the test of time, did they?? Oh well - something from that Sex Magik album would probably land on my compilation - for the gettin sum memories it evokes, if nothing else.
Best rap and hip-hop albums of the 90's:
Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels
Ice Cube - Amerikka's Most Wanted
Geto Boys - Geto Boys
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
Arrested Development - 3 Years, etc..
Hon. mention to Death Certificate, Low-End Theory, The Chronic, Doggystyle, Let the Rhythm Hit Em, To the East Blackwards, Edutainment.
Don't have anything against Wu-Tang and Fugees and that stuff that a lot of people like, just never got into it.
Offspring... "Smash" was a kickass album.
excellent album...how could i forget old offspring...sooooooo good.Quote:

(I quite like the tune anyway, but the video rules)
Bigred stop denying it..you love 80's music. And you think Bryan Adams is the best artist of all time.Quote:

I saw the last Smashing Pumpkins concert that they had. me>you
BOUNCING SOULS and The Dismemberment Plan both pot out very good CD during the 90's. :D
Although, both of their best CD's came out in 2001 "How I Spent my Summer Vacation" and "Emergency & I".
RATM.
Yeah, there were other bands that were cool....but they weren't cool like RATM cool.
A great 90s tune that EVERYBODY loves regardless...
If you don't love it then you are simply wrong.
Tubthumping
She gets knocked up, but she goes down again.................
BigRed - I saw NIN at the very first Lollapalooza and they blew my mind - NIN was still pretty much small time back then, I think their only song that had some awareness was "Head Like a Hole". I dug em ever since - grew my hair long, wore leather jacket & NIN shirt. I rocked! (in my own mind)

Not putting Doggiestyle and/or The Chronic in the list of great rap albums is cleary incorrect. Hon Mention my foot.
Ya - Jane's Addiction's best albums were 80's, but they enjoyed their greatest success and popularity in the 90's - so that's no prob, really.
Radiohead probably does need more love. Lots of different sounds do.
One thing that made 90's music great was the explosion of indies. FTR seems more like a straight up rocking crowd...
I wouldn't really argue about Chronic and Doggystyle - both great albums that have more staying power and probably define the decade better than most of my favs. Just that I've always preferred hip-hop that is more intelligent/conscious lyrically and more honest - not to say basic -sound-wise. Those albums helped spawn a generation of slick over-produced fluff-hop.
Pffft, if you remember the 90s then you didn't enjoy them. Or something.
from a Brit p.o.v, I would say the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses. Possibly the Charlatans as well.
Some of us didn't spend all his time indoors watching star trek.Quote:
