feedback on my website

hey all-

i just finished getting together my personal poker website and was hoping some of you could give me some feedback. it's located here:

i am mainly looking for comments on the concepts, as i don't care what the layout really looks like. in a nutshell, i'm trying to make a personal portal that will assist me while playing on line poker, a companion tool of sorts. i have a bankroll, blog, stats section among a few other features. let me know what i should add or take away.

Isn't 15k a little low for 6max 600nl?

The variance is higher in six max right?

thanks renton, that is the sort of comment i was looking for, comments on content not on layout/design.

i thought about this very issue, and i decided that for the early phases of the project, 20 buyins @ the level i was at would be completely comfortable for me, but that i wanted to get up to 25 buyins for $600NL. i have had tons of experience at $200NL and $400NL, and plenty @ $600NL as well. i just had to spend quite a bit of my bankroll in the last few months for non-poker stuff (which is a separate issue addressed elsewhere on my new site - this time around, i'll be able to make a serious committment to bankroll management) so 25 buyins @ $600 = $15k is how i came up with $15k amount. at that point, i would reevaluate my schedule for a completely different goal, because i would ideally like to get about $30k to play two tables of $1000NL, possibly even $35k for 30-35 buyins. once i hit $15k, i would probably do something like this:

$15k = $600NL x2
$20-30k = $600NL/$1000NL
$30k-35k = $1000NL x2

keep in mind i could very well adjust this future goal once I get to $15k, after i have a chance for some assessment opportunities. this is just what i'm thinking now as i sit in front of the mountain of work that it will take me to get from $3k to $15k. fyi, i'm not even thinking about levels above $1000NL right now, it just doesn't even make any sense to do that at the moment.

Cool. I gave it a quick glance. The comment about "multi-site" variable rings true for me. I've been going the b0nus whore route since Feb 1st after playing all of Jan on a r@keback site. Each time I go to a new site, I tend to drop down at the beginning. I attribute this to new interface and different player styles (European vs. American styles). Then I spend time getting back to even. Eventually I turn a profit - usually a good one after getting used to things and getting reads on regulars. I have been 2-3 tabling 100NL at each site. I have to do 2 sometimes because some interfaces suck. I'll look your site over more later - looks like a great start though.

trust me, you need a much larger 'roll than 15k to play 600 NL 6-max. The swings you will get are insane. I would recomment a bare minimum of 25k. Im playing 200 NL 6-max with a 17k bankroll and I dont feel like I have a big enough 'roll to move up to 400 NL quite just yet. High stakes 6-max is very swingy and forces you to not ever play with scared money as you got to put your whole stack on whims. So you cant play with scared money.

I think 4 tabling is better suited for full ring. Of course I know some players play 8 tables or more, but I much prefer to have more time for reads in 6MAX than I do full ring. I may actually do a separate project for full ring, as I'd like to pick up that game again sometime, but I want to focus on 6MAX for now, with 2 tables at a time. I hope that I can get to the point where I can add another table and still trust my ability to employ information I gain through reads. But for now, 2 tables is where I'm comfortable.

I was hoping I'd hear from you on this spino! I have to admit that your disclosure a few months back on buying a Prius inspired me to do the same with a big chunk of my roll. Now, I didn't pay straight cash homey like you did, but I made a substantial down payment, and I'm glad I did. Because as we both know, the gas savings alone make that purchase +EV :)

At any rate, I appreciate the comments on the minimum buyin level. I'm going to adjust it upwards a little bit, but I have to say that I think 20 buyins @ $200NL is adequate for me. I'll go up a little, but not much on that level. I am completely open to a more gradual scale upwards past that level, though.
(I would actually disagree with you somewhat in that I think you can 'play scared' and still make a profit @ 1/2NL, but I think all opportunity for that approach ends abruptly somewhere around $400NL-$600NL. But that is another conversation entirely :)

So I will try to adjust my scale a little bit this weekend and post again. My goal isn't necessarily to get to a specific level (i.e. $100NL) but rather a specific cash amount (i.e. $15k). I am wondering if you'd feel better about this general update: 25 buyins for $200NL x2 (instead of 20), 30 buyins for $400NL x2 and 40 buyins for $600NL x2. Keep in mind I don't do this as a profession, I have a job that I like well enough for now that pays well, so I am not as exposed to minimum BR/buyins as pros who do nothing else for money might be. In other words, if I need to fix my car, I can do it with other money. One of the pillars of this project is keeping my goddamn hands of my bankroll until I decide it's high enough that I can use subsequent winnings as earnings. But again, that is a completely different project.
