5k checkup and HH's
Dabbling in 6max after lots of full ring and MTT's. Here are my stats after 5k hands (over a couple weeks) at 50NL, as well as 5 HH's for review. WR is holding up well, even after a bad night last night. I want to go to 20k hands before moving up, as I might be running a bit hot right now. Any observations?

BB/100: 18.58
You are running amazingly.
-
How much stock are people putting on all these stats in 6max...besides BB/100? I've been whoring since Feb. 01 on B2Bs and a couple other sites and don't even bother with PT. When I played full ring on Party skins I used PT and PAce religiously and would check my stats constantly. Now I just play poker and focus on whether I'm playing well and profiting or not. I throw VP$IP out the window in 6max because I don't see any number being wrong. You have to play according to your opponents and/or make them play according to you. It's not a problem that you posted them. I keep seeing people post these stats and hope they don't get hung up on certain ones.
Hope you didn't jinx yourselft by posting your stats Kid:) It seems many people moving to 6max start off with a bang - probably because they start off tight since it's a new game. Then they open up a little, bluff a little more, steal a little more and BOOM! When that happens - don't sweat it or let it crush your confidence. Just focus on playing well.
So far so good though. Hands look fine. There will be sessions where you lose every freaking one of these, but it looks like you are controlling pot sizes enough that it won't hurt too much.
-
you are playing really loose.
i don't bet the turn on the TT hand when the ace because i don't think he is drawing, but i would bet river if checked to.
i would raise more with K9s on the 9 high flop.
-
Yeah you look like you are playing very loose according to your PT stats. I think your VP$IP% should be no more than 30 at a relatively low limit like 50NL. My VP$IP% is something like 18 at PP, although it's around 30 or so at UB, just because I play so different at PP.
Hand 1: I would raise preflop to isolate on the limper with J9s. It's a strong drawing hand and it's always good to be the aggressor in position. I would not limp here very often unless the whole table limped to me and which case I would limp. But by not raising here you don't really have any information on anybody's hand and the blinds could have anything. I wouldn't bet this flop since it's a very attractive flop for a lot of hands our opponents could be holding.
Hand 2: The preflop call was kind of iffy, but a call I sometimes make if I think I'll get paid off if I hit. If you're going to bet this flop I would make it a larger bet of around 4-5. If called I would check the turn unless I turned trips or two pair, and I still check when the turn gives me a flush draw to keep the pot small and to peel off a free card.
Hand 3: Betting the flop is good, but I check behind on the turn when the Ace hits, and like Gabe said, possibly bet on the end if they check to you.
Hand 4: Bet more on that flop, and maybe fire a second shell, but bet bigger on each street to make the mediocre hands drop out.
Hand 5: Don't raise minimum preflop ever, aside from that raise bigger on that flop. As played I call that small river bet.
-
My VPIP is around 27% at party and I feel that I'm quite loose. Just realize you're playing a high variance strategy and your BB/100 WILL drop.
-
people overrate playing LAG. they think its cool and so much more profitable.
the fact is that if you play tighter, your bb/100 isn't going to be that much lower, you will have less variance, and you will be able to play more tables, meaning higher hourly rate
-
I also believe I could probably be making more an hour on the tables I play now, 100NL, playing tighter and more tables. Once I got used to playing tight. But I don't want to do that, I'd rather have a higher PTBB/100 at two tables and a slightly lower income an hour. What matters to me is improving my game so I can beat higher stakes soon and earn more that way.
I've noticed that I've gotten much better at poker in general after switching from 4 to 2 tables and from full ring to 6 max. Playing loose reading your oponents, figuring out what they have, if your kicker is good, if they are weak and might fold, etc. etc. becomes very important. For me this makes me focus more and I feel my game is improving cause of it. I'm also having much more fun when playing. But each player has to find out what works best for him of course, even though I'm pretty sure LAG is the most profitable way to play not taking multitabling into consideration.
-
Thanks all, for the comments. I figured that I was running a bit hot right now.
To explain my high VPIP, I usually hunt for TAP tables, and look to take control. If I find a table with another couple LAGs, I will often leave as not to have to fight them off. So, my VPIP is high such that I sneak into every pot I can and look to hit hands that beat others who cannot fold, or just take pots away from those who cannot call big bets postflop. I also lean on people until they crack or start playing back at me.
However, I will admit that at times I call raises with connectors, or suited one-gappers and look to get lucky against a second best, and things are working out ok thus far (knock on wood).

I have a different style and approach, i run at 22/6 and look for the juiciest tables, finding the XLs (over 63 VPIPs) and look to get in pots with them and rape them. I look for tables with at least 1 or 2 big losers, like XLs, CSs and SMs (i use andy mcnish's / excessions 6max rules).
r8 i use pahud and datamine if poss so to me stats are really important :)
