rolling with the punches

I've been supporting myself on poker for about six months now, and the inevitable finally happened. No, I'm not broke. I lost almost 3 Gs in as many days. I've never run so bad, I even busted out of a weak 2/4 HOE home game tonight, most of the players were drunk and/or stoned.

I had a couple of really great runs over the past few weeks, but it's like after a rough streak it's all meaningless. It's almost like I don't know why I was winning so consistently for so long.

The last time this happened, I was playing 1/2NL from monday-friday on a week off from school, each day went like this: +500, +600, +850, -400, -400. Even though those last two days were roughly the same loss as a bankroll percentage, it was different. I played weak tight for a couple of days afterward, but it didn't feel like this.

I'm just wondering if any of you have been in situations like this and how you dealt with it. I will be getting a bachelor's degree in a few months but I really don't want to use it. I will find out this summer whether I'm really a pro or not, but another loss like this and I don't know whether I'll have that agressive edge that got me so far. I'll be grudgingly moving down in limits for a few sessions, but if this happens again I don't know where my head will be.

i had quite a few 5k+ downswings....they suck but they are part of poker. Take a day or 2 or a week off, clear your head, and get back 2 it.
