Full ring. I just lost like 4 buy-ins yesterday through a combination of bad cards and bad play. I'm going to start posting some hands to get some help.

Raise pf good to pick off the limpers? Or just complete and look for the set? What about the flop and turn?

1. If you're going to bet the turn bet more then that.
2. EDIT: FOLD
3. I don't like the PF raise. You're in bad position. On the flop you will get action from another overpair or a draw and the turn will suck no matter what card falls so I don't like the flop bet.

1. bet 2/3 pot, fold to raise.... alternatively chk/call lead none spade, A or K river <---- high variance...read dependant
2. FOLD
3. sb completes. chk/raise flop

Newbie advice, be warned :)

1) either go for pricing the draws and bet 3/4 pot and keep consistent, or give up on pricing and just control the pot and bet around 1/3 pot consistently. Your line feels like something inbetween both. I think it might even be ok to be half-assed about it here. Bet 3/4 pot on the flop, then 1/4 pot on the turn after a possible draw completes there. You might actually get a weaker hand to call you that way..

2) fold (unless a read tells you otherwise)

3) same thing as 1).. I'd check/call this down to the river. (call only sensible bets ofcourse) I don't want to be playing for a big pot/stacks with such a weak overpair. Either that or rep a bigger hand by betting BIG if you feel lucky.

someone correct me if i'm wrong. the 35 is VP$IP (voluntarily put $ in the pot). it's a measure of pre-flop tightness/looseness. someone with a vpip of 10 is very very tight and someone with a vpip of 50 is very very loose. the 17 is the pfr% (pre-flop raise %). a pfr% of 2 means they only raise the very best hands pre-flop. a pfr% of 17 means they raise lots of hands.

Hand 1: I hammer it pre-flop. $10
Hand 2: I might gamble, depends on what I think of UTG and how the game has been playing. I certainly don't think this is a routine fold.
Hand 3: Meh. I probably go $20. I can see checking and check/raising too.

#1 I like your line (maybe bet the flop a little harder). Fold to a turn raise though.

#2 I probably call.

#3 Preflop raise is good. Sometimes I call. As played bet the turn and fold to a raise, similar to your line in hand 1. A lot of villains will call your flop bet with an underpair because they believe you are on missed overs. Betting the turn should straighten that out, plus make it a little more sure as to whether he hit a set.
