4 Hands from $50NL Session - General Line Checks

Villain is tight. Its folded to me in the SB, I raise with Q7o and the BB calls. I flop an OESD that should be good if it hits, I check raise hoping to take it down right there. This is what my main question is about, was this checkraise good? I dont like cbetting this flop OOP, the texture is horrible, I could call but I think I have a good chance of taking the pot here with a raise.

On the turn I check and villain bets for half the pot, Im not getting the proper odds to call, but its close and I feel the implied odds are there so I call.

The river brings a K giving me a straight that is only beat by AQ which I think is unlikely because I most likely would have been reraised preflop. I check raise the river all in [convereter messed up the action] and villain calls. I think the turn and the river are fine, but my main question was about the flop, what do you think of that?

Raise preflop to 6xBB with JJ, one caller [stats above]. The flop brings a paired board, its unlikely to have hit my opponent and I most likely have the best hand. I cbet about 2/3 the pot, he minraises, I call. Should I have just folded this? 3bet?

Turn brings a Q and I check, villain bets for like 1/6 the pot, I call trying to keep the pot small and just trying to get to a cheap showdown.

River is a 5, I check, he bets a little more than 1/4 the pot, I call.

Given the weak bets on the turn and the river, I have to call these correct? Should I have raised, or was I right in going for a cheap showdown? How was the flop played?

Turn is a 3s, I check behind, is this a bet?

River brings the 4th heart, I check behind.

My main question is about the flop and turn play, on this type of board with a decent hand, how should I play it? Especially against a Tight opponent like this.

Flop is AJ9r and I lead for about 3/4 the pot, one call. Turn comes another 9, I lead for half the pot, thinking Im ahead more often than not, he calls. Rivcer brings a blank, I check and villain checks behind.

Is this a value bet on the river? Should I have played any of the streets differently?

Hand 1: flop line is fine. nh

Hand 2: I think this needs to be raised either on the flop or turn depending on what line you want to rep

Hand 3: nh

Hand 4: I bet $12 on the turn here. River bet for value depends on reads in this spot

Hand 1: I fold pre-flop. But I like the flop CR. I think you get folds here a lot from any hand worse than TPGK. I probably lead the turn for $8, but then it gets tricky if he re-raises.

Hand 2: You can't put him on trips, so after the flop raise the question is whether he has an overpair better than yours (or something you beat, like a T or a flush draw). I might re-raise on the flop, but it's a tough decision. I like the turn and river, a cheap showdown is good here.

Hand 3: I think I bet the turn here, 1/2 pot, but checking behind isn't bad against such a tighty with $30 already in the pot. Definitely check behind on the river.

Hand 4: It's tough to put him on a hand here. TPGK? QQ? Again, with a good-sized pot I don't think you need to value bet the river.

Overall I think you played these hands well.

1) Fold PF. As played, I think I raise the turn. Calling for the OESD draw is not good, either, IMO. If I'm villain in this hand, holding, say AJd, I have no problem getting away from it on the river--the implied odds aren't very good here, b/c the straight draw is so obvious.

2) Me likey. I can see lots of lower PP + A10/K10 playing the way villain plays here. Good pot control. I love hands like this where you call down with a pretty strong hand, letting your opponent cut their own throat. If he has you beat, he hasn't made you pay very much for it.

3) Flop raise seems a little big--why not just pot it for $9? Otherwise fine.

4) Turn bet is wimpy. You're giving him the same drawing odds you called w/ in hand 1. I check the river down here, too, OOP. In position, I think it's a clear small value bet against a weaker ace.

Samsonite, on the turn Im getting 3:1 odds to call and I have 8 outs to a straight which will almost definitely be good unless villain has KQ or AQ. Both of those are rather unlikely as AQ would probably reraise preflop, or fold to the flop checkraise. KQ is more possible, but I think villain would 3bet that. On hand 3 the flop raise was a potsized raise. I figured I likely had the best hand but didnt want villain drawing out to a flush cheaply, I think the potsized raise was fine.

Looking back in hand 4 I agree I bet too little and should have bet more. Overall though Im glad nothing here jumped out as incredibly bad.

I agree with this; just be careful cos if he is smart he will realise what you are doing and he may very well have AQ/QK

i raise all day on hand 1, i dont like the check-raise though. you're building a big pot out of position with an obvious draw that probably won't get paid off.

Meh. I don't like stealing from the SB without a read that the BB's weak. Tight is one thing, but weak is another. If the BB thinks I'm stealing, or wakes up to a good hand, I'm OOP the rest of the hand. Maybe it's a leak... I'm curious what others think.
