Fishy turn, bad river

Poor player. I get check-raised on the turn but I have outs and I think he may have two overs or something. Since I got check-raised on the turn I just checked behind on the river in case I'm against a boat. But that seems totally stupid to me after the fact. I go fishing and don't real it in when I hit one of my outs.

Yeah, what gabe said. You probably don't have a whole lot of FE on the turn esp since this guy is a bad player. Plus you have a nice combo draw that really can't stand much heat. As played, I'd bet the river everytime. I doubt a better hand checks the river here.

I bet the turn a fair amount of the time here, but I'm going to make it at least 2/3 pot here, so in this case I'd probably make it $30 and fold to a raise. Checking behind isn't a bad alternative, but your hand might be good as is and betting big on the turn will net you a cheap showdown most of the time while still being able to make a nice value bet if you improve. I definitely bet the river here, I'd make it $80 and obviously call a push.

I don't think we get check raised enough (especially if it's a good 2/3 pot bet) for that to really matter. Maybe in the higher stakes games where players are a lot more aggressive that is a better line, but at 1/2 your average player isn't going to wait till the turn to make a monster check raise, he would have done so on the flop most likely.

the flop isn't really coordinated so its the perfect one to slowplay something on. if they have a set just some of the time, we never get a chance to bust them (by rivering a straight) when we bet because they'll raise

Maybe if our straight draw was disguised some I could see your point. But if we river the straight here it's a pretty obvious straight and I doubt we're getting paid off unless the guy is a complete donkey.
