Villian (utg) is a solid tag 20/15 regular. He probably views me the same. On the flop I don't think he check-raises with an 8 or a hand like AKcc. I think he bets out with those hands, hoping to push over a raise. Maybe he has 66, but I still think he bets out with that or check/calls. So I shove. Thoughts?

Well I am certainly capable of smooth calling with AA-QQ pf, but obviously most of the time I will 3-bet, which changes the whole hand. I probably wouldn't 3-bet ai on the flop either with AA-QQ against a solid tag player because I don't think he pays off with a worse hand often enough. I probably would just call the cr. Here I'm repping trips or better.

For this hand, I don't think villian would play an overpair in this manner (check flop) because the pot is 3-way and he is the second person to act. If he was the first person to act I can maybe see it, since there is a decent chance someone after him will bet. But it's still pretty dumb imo, because a cr chases out a lot of hands that will pay him off (smaller overpairs).

Why do you think he has an 8 here? Wouldn't betting out make the most sense if he has 8x? I think this is a very strange line for just about any hand.

It's your read as he is a regular and you know him, but this is not uncommon for an 8. I'd feel more sure if he woulda been first to act.. but if he has the 8, he must have anticipated you were going to steal the pot if he checked, or that you would put him on an 8 if he bet out and took his chances? He decided to trap you cuz you were floating him a lot?

(or the raise was the trap, cuz he thought u were full of shit, but I wouldn't discount that people might adapt to your play aswell)

dude, first of all, your position sucks, fold preflop. You're 100bb deep in 2nd position, immediately on the raiser's left. (so you will be sandwiched postflop between the raiser and other players that play) Well, it's gabe's hand, and it looks pretty, so whatever.

Flop is just messy. Ok so you take a stab at it with your 4 dirty out gutshot and get c/r'd big in a tagg v tagg battle when you bet in a 3 way pot. dude, fold.

You're risking about $350 to win $175 in dead money on what basically amounts to a stone-cold bluff...

If he folded, give yourself a huge pat on the back.
