QQ preflop then overpair

This was my first hand at the table - never seen MP2 before. His min raise is what made me think he didn't have AA or KK, and I didn't have to worry about anything else on the flop. Did I play the flop badly though?

I call it, 13 bucks to call a $40+ pot with a good overpair. That scenario works for me.

I'm not really worried about the call. I'm more worried about the $5 bet into about a $16 pot. No real draws, but T,J,A,K are all scare cards.

Smells like JJ or TT. However, without any reads, it's tough to know if he's just downplaying his AA/KK. The flop reraise says something. But ... I would still probably call.

lol how often in your games do you see somebody put in a 4th raise preflop with TT/JJ in a full ring game?

About as often as AK and AQ. For someone I've never seen before it's actually common enough at the tables I play at, at the time this happened.

It's a gamble on whether the player is fairly solid or not, but I think the odds are in favour of it not being AA or KK. If it is - oh well.

Turned out to be JJ btw.

Preflop there is a raise and a reraise before you, am I the only one who thinks OPs raise is somewhat weak? And I agree with Lukie here, the preflop action indicates a very strong hand and without a read I would be surprised to see something other than AA/KK there.

You say you dont think he has either of those hands, so Ill go with that. On the flop why are you betting so weakly? Its just asking to get raised and any raise is putting you AI. Are you putting him on a medium pocket pair? I think with this line against an unknown it is hard to put him on something and isnt the best way to play this hand. You cant assume he is doing this with air unless you read him as being very aggressive, so he must have some sort of hand, and you really dont beat much that plays that way preflop. I think the best line would be a checkraise/AI. That would get an extra bet out of some random hands that we have beat but would fold to a standard lead [which would probably be a push] and its the best way to get your stack in if you are confident you are ahead.

I know the $5 bet was bad, which is why I asked for advice. I was thinking maybe a 2/3 pot bet to commit both stacks to all-in. A check-raise is a good idea, but I'd be lost if he just called and one of AKJT fell.

With the preflop action I dont think you are going to be too worried about villain just checking behind you, he will be betting here almost always. What happens if he just calls your $5 bet on the flop? You are in the same situation just with less money. If you are going to bet this flop then it really cant be for anything less than a push, your stack is barely bigger than the pot. Considering the stack sizes I really think a checkraise/AI is the best line if you think you are ahead most of the time.
