It's even worse. If you read carefully, the ghosts aren't just throwing any old dirt, they are throwing GHOST-DIRT. That's why there was no trace afterwards.

I did one when i was young and afterwards the coin used went really really hot such that it left a mark on the desk where it had been left.

A friend of mine did one with his family and his sister freaked out afterwards. She said someone had thumped the headboard on her bed when she was alone in her room. She was crying her eyes out and extemely scared.

I don't believe anything paranormal happened in either occasion but i really cannot think of an explanation for a coin heating up for no apparent reason.
