Okay now this is a very good situation for me obviously. What is the best way to maximize this situation? He bet 7 and I only have 32 in my stack... His 7 looks like it wants to take this pot right now, so will my push scare him off? Do I just call? Min raise?

I think maybe the best option is to call and push any turn, or push right now. Min raiseing screams "omg i hit a set and ill put in half my stack for some reason" in which case I think the only hand that plays any further is 10 10...

with position on him you can call his flop bet leaving him with the decision to fire again on the turn or check and give up the pot.

On the other hand, what hands is this guy raising from the blinds over limpers?? Most of the time it will be a big PP or AK. If its a big PP it is now an overpair and there are very few 50NL players (in my experience) who will lay down an overpair on the flop, especially if you are somewhat short and he's got ~200bb. which argues for a push on the flop.

The strongest argument for pushing the flop is that there are a lot of turn cards that could kill all of the action, as the board is quite connected, so probably best to get it in before another heart or an 8 or 9 (or T) falls.

That is a good point... Especially if he is doing this with something like AhKh I dont want to give him the turn card...

I agree that pushing the flop is best as my hand isnt unbeatable and it also might be the best way to get his monies in either way.

$7 overbet into a $5ish pot? He's trying to take it down, now, and is assuming your shortstackedness means you're weak and scared.

I'd raise to something like $19.99, just for giggles. IMO he's not giving anything up after the overbet and was just throwing around his stack.

raise flop. if he has a made hand he will be less likely to believe you since there's draws on the board. if he's bluffing then that's probably all the money you were going to get out of him anyways.

Raise the flop. Big bets don't mean "I have a hand", or "I don't and I'm trying to push you off", as much as "I'm reluctant to leave this pot". In that case it's an easy choice to jam 3rd street on a semi coordinated board which may stump the action on late streets.

hesitate and then push. Villain prolly has a big pair and you hesitate-push will make you look like you have 99. If all he has are overcards you won't win much anyways.

yes, but a push makes it as easy as possible for him to get away from his big pair. i'm not saying he will...just that it gives him the best chance of folding.

Just a minor detail but just make sure to rebuy, I'm suspecting you lost a hand before and didn't get the chance? I personally call and raise the turn, or bet it. Yes, I get the vunerable hand argument, but with a decently shallow stack the guy may hang himself out to dry anyway and if an overcard comes he will still call the turn and you can weak value the river.
