NL100 Some hands from my recent losing sessions

Sorry for the long post, I'm just desperate. Most of these hands are pretty trivial but I still decided to post them for some reason. I didn't include stats or reads for every hand, but if you feel it changes a lot then I'll post them later. I might post more hands later, these are just some random hands I picked from my recent sessions. Would have posted more but I think there are already enough for one thread.

I've hit a downswing (isn't really a big surprise after my great start at NL100) so I decided to post some hands to see if I'm just unlucky or if I'm doing something wrong. I think I play way too passively semi-decent hands and give way too many free cards and I also call way too much when I'm beat, because hey, they could be bluffing!

I have problems with cbets, seems like I don't get respect anymore (perhaps I should just cbet less, but I think most of the time people just call me to see if they can take the pot on the turn/river). Maybe I should try firing a 2nd barrel every now and then?

Anyway, here they are (posted results as well because you already know I lost them...):

Villain is a calling station, never folds to a cbet and after this I found out he also always bets the river if someone checks the turn/river. Probably should have bet the turn. This sets up hand #2, which I think I played fine.

Just an example where my cbet gets called. Same villain as in hands 1&2. How often in general should I bet the turn here (assume villain is unknown or stats like 20/7-10 or something)? Seems like I give up the pot pretty much always here when called on the flop. A solid opponent will definately notice that and will steal a lot of pots by calling with air and betting the turn.

How often do you cbet here? Villain was pretty TAGG. Now that I think of it I suppose only hands he's folding here are smaller pocket pairs (and maybe QQ) and he will call with any ace.

Same villain as in hand #7. Never folds to a cbet and sometimes minraises it, although at this point I really hadn't played with him that much to have a decent sample size. There aren't many hands I beat, but given the fact that he could have pretty much anything here, should I fold, just call or push? I folded and decided to wait for a better spot. I just hate playing for stacks with TPWK, even though he was a calling station.

Villain is tight and seems solid, but then again I've seen donks use this line with AJ or something very often. Maybe my read is incorrect or he's just trying to look weak? I dunno, I just think solid players raise more preflop with AA/KK, so either he is a donk and doesn't have anything or he's trying to lure me in. Is this a bad line against a shortstack? I instapushed the river without even thinking that if he has a ten he probably has the boat pretty often (JT/T9, but I suppose AT/KT/QT are possibilities as well). And this is just one of my weaknesses, I usually just play my cards...

hand 17 - i think you should just call the river. you can be beaten and i think that anyone that does call your allin has you beaten

Some thoughts:

Try to avoid giving away what happened in your little intro-sentences. It may affect the analysis.

#1 - you're right; bet the turn. If he smoothcalls you can decide on the river if he bets into you then.

#2 - river c/r is quite ballsy, but I can understand it given the read.

3. If your cbets are being called by this guy and you're constantly being floated, mix it up. Fire 2nd barrel. Don't cbet. C/r (with air if you're feeling your oats).

5. Bet the turn. He's checked to you twice.

8. I don't play for stacks preflop with JJ unless I have a decent read or opp is very short stacked. Here, opp is short but against someone who 3-bets preflop, you should be thinking AK+ (maybe AQ)/AA/KK/QQ.

9) is fine cuz he's short. Ask yourself if you could lay it if the money was deeper, however.

11) I don't know about raising 88 utg... when you get so many callers I think it's time to slow down unless the table has been rolling over to cbets or you flop your set. Cbet is a probable spew here.

15) Getting LRR is somewhat unpleasant, but I think this is OK. I *might* call the flop bet largely cuz the LRR is so weak and the flop bet is weak

17) eh whatever. Flush on flush happens. Did you have a read saying that this guy liked to open with suited aces? I tend to call river rather than push but I'm weak-tight.

Really? I actually thought this was a great spot for check-raise. If he has me beat, then so be it. I would call his push anyway. And besides, I hardly ever check-raise the river which I think is a leak. I just hate giving up value when they check behind and I have the nuts...

The point is that given his stats (38/25), and the fact that I had reraised him a few times before, how often do you think he'll push this with a hand I can beat? I really don't know and that's why I'm asking. Perhaps I didn't give him enough credit here.

In a multiway pot? Definately. However I tend to overplay my big pairs in spots like this when I'm on a downswing.

I don't know either, because some people say you should raise any pp in any position and some say you shouldn't. I've been trying to mix it up and sometimes limp and sometimes raise. I really don't know which is the best way. Solid players will spot a set if I limp and hit, but maybe I should just focus on getting the money from weaker players. I tend to give people way too much credit when I shouldn't and not enough credit when I should.

I know it happens, and if we both happened to flop it I wouldn't mind. However when he plays it like a flushdraw I think I should just call it. And yeah, I'm pretty weak too, but only when I shouldn't. When I should, I tend to be too aggressive and lose my money. And no, I didn't have a read except he was pretty aggressive at least preflop. Not that it matters anyway because I usually just play my cards.

My leaks:

1. Being too passive when I shouldn't (ie. not raising TPTK or something like that in small pots because I don't want to lose my stack with them. Hello, you can fold if they reraise you!

2. Not thinking about what the opponent might have. I make my decicions way too quickly and pay off obvious flushes etc.

3. Cbetting too much and especially cbetting calling stations. I always think that maybe they'll fold this time. But they won't!

4. Playing when on tilt (I thought I could control myself but lately I've lost a few buyins because of that).

And many others which I don't happen to remember just now. The point of this reply is to just remind myself that even though I happened to have a great start at NL100 I still suck. That's all.

1. Lead turn for $15-$20. A second barrel will scare off a lot of guys unless they hit the board.
2. I lead river for $30 or so. At that point over half my stack is in, so if he pushes I probably have a hard time letting go. Leak?
3. On that board, with no draw, I probably have to check that too. His bet looks REALLY weak and begs to be raised, though. Looks like a probe bet because of perceived weakness.
4. I think shutting down after flop is fine here.
5. If villain is truly a nit, you could fold this. I think this call would be better with more people in the pot. Once you bet flop, I would bet turn as well. A nit would lead with a Q or better.
6. Until I saw what he minraised with, I wouldn't call it. AT is kinda weak. He could be drawing too.
7. I 3-bet this flop and fold to a push. Every draw hits after that and you are likely behind, so I probably fold turn as played.
8. With your read I think this is QQ+/AK, so I could let this go. If his stack was any shorter I might call him.
9. Minraises seem to be sets a lot these days, but against that short a stack, meh....
10. Give credit to the EP raise and don't call the raise unless there are people in with you. QJ is dominated easily by a EP raising range. I probably fold flop, but I sometimes peel a card to see if my draw comes in. Turn card sucks. Get out then.
11. OOP with 3 callers and a draw on the board, I don't think you should cbet. You can't fold to the all in, though...
12. I would only bet the turn if you have been able to fold him out before. If I were villain, it looks like you were scared of the ace, but if you had bet turn, I would become afraid of the ace. Betting turn is high risk and pot is still relatively small, so I could let it go against any reasonable opponent.
13. I bet this flop, with the str8 draw and backdoor flush draw, plus the added possibility of fold equity. With a lead, he has to put you on two pair or a power ace.
14. I call this river a lot and regret it more often than not.
15. I think you can fold this if he is really solid. Reraise preflop is AK/QQ+ for most people.
16. I check river here and call a reasonable bet.
17. Don't call raises with T9s without more people in the pot (just like JQs). I just call his river bet. Maybe that's weak.
18. This does look like a draw that came in. I like the float on the flop, btw.

14. I prefer limping preflop. KQs does quite well multi-way. Yes, you have the choice of folding on river, esp. you already know villain is a nit.
15. Fine. Villain's check-reraise screams big PP.
16. The small turn bet smells fishy. He wants you to think you're getting proper odds to chase your overcard+straight draw. If you can't fold on the turn, maybe try to check-call a small bet on river.
17. Yes. You said it, just call the river.
18. Fold. It can't be any more obvious.
