Correct river play?

$200NL, 3 handed

Villain has about $350, Hero covers.

Villain limps on the button, SB calls, Hero checks with Th8h.

Flop is Q96, rainbow. Hero checks, villain bets, sb folds, hero calls.

Turn 7

Hero checks, Villain bets $18. Hero raises to $50, villain calls.

River Q (Pot is about $120)

Hero?? Assume villain is a reasonably solid TAG. If you bet what do you do if you get raised?

FUCK.... uhhh wow. I don't think I could give solid advice. On a whim I'd probably check/call.

3 handed and your opponent is open limping the button? I cant imagine he is _that_ solid with a move like that, but what sort of hands do you think he could be limping there? I cant imagine a broadway hand would be limping, something like KQ, QJ, etc, nor would he limp with a pocket pair. I would put him on a maginal hand like yours, maybe offsuit gappers, etc. A solid tags range does not include a big Q, and even if it did I would be surprised to see that raise. The only hands that would really raise here would be a boat, maybe a straight but thats pretty unlikely. I really think Id have to bet this river for maybe $80ish and fold to a raise, I just couldnt put him on a hand that is worse than us raising here but I could see worse hands calling so a bet/fold line would make sense.

Yeah, sorry "solid TAG" is a bit misleading. I meant someone who has a decent idea of when his hand is good and can fold a big hand, but doesn't necessarily play very aggressive. I guess weak-tight is a better description. Reason I stated solid TAG is that I would like to know what line you would take vs a solid TAG (ignore pf). I agree with you that vs a more passive opponent bet\folding is the better line but i am not sure if thats the case vs a TAG. Assume you are the villain with AQ\KQ, do you bet the river if checked to?

If you bet $80 and he raises to $160 do you fold?

seems like from your description he would lay down without a boat to a river check/raise. I like andy's suggestion, leading out $80-100, folding to any raise.

bet and be happy to call a raise...if he has top two on turn or a set hes usually trying to put more money in then. bad players will raise Qx alot here...
