Was this a donk/ good call?

Not sure if the call i made on the river was a good call. Based on my reads i made on my opponents' betting and action preflop, i thought i made an acceptable call. But, i would like to know what other people think. Was this a donk/ good call?

what are you beating?

a bluff, which is what i figured he was doing. I wouldnt expect an opponent to raise a set on the flop, nor limp with an overpair (10-10+). I figured he may have had K-9 or A-9, maybe 7-7 or 8-8. Am i wrong in assuming a set wouldnt raise a rainbow board? Am i wrong for assuming any of these things?

I probably fold the turn like a nit to this continued display of strength, although I can't put Villain on a hand that beats us really.

Normally, I might put him on 66,77,TT. But the turn and river bombs would send me running most of the time.

I dont see why he couldnt have 22,66 or even 99...also, why wouldn't he raise a set???

You beat a lot ... busted straight draw, missed overs, weaker top pair hand, middle pair 77/88ish ... but I don't think you beat anything that bets like this unless the guy is just a nut bluff-bot in a limped pot...particularly after you have shown a willingness to call him down, a river bluff would be pretty spewy on his part.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up 78 :diamond: but I'm not likely to put so much money into a limped pot with TPTK like this...more power to you if you picked off a bluff. I'll agree that his line screams 'the nuts or nuthin'.

my logic for not expecting villian to raise a set on the flop was that on a rainbow flop with a bet from the big blind he would want to get me to bet on later streets by just calling on the flop. Then again i rarely bet anything but big draws, so i wouldnt expect me to be drawing against a set once i bet the flop. I would've expected a turn raise, but from a set i would've expected a smooth call on the flop. The continued aggression (pot sized bets and bigger on turn and river) convinced me that he was trying to get me out, either because he figured i was drawing or he was bluffing. The pot sized river bet with no draws completed on board convinced me he was bluffing as i would expect a set to make some kind of value bet at that point.
