I have a leak - I call too much instead of folding

I have a very big leak, thats costing me at least a buyin for every session I play: I call too much postflop, instead of folding when its clear that I'm beat or/and when I'm facing a big river bet with a very marginal hand. I need to fold a lot more postflop, because I'm bleeding money right now and it hurts my winrate a lot - also because this leak easily leads to tilt. But I cant seem to plug this leak, I continue to be a calling station. I need some advice from you my fellow brothers, what do I do? Make a thread where I post all the bad calls I make? Write "FOLD MORE AND CALL LESS" on a piece of paper a hundred times? Any ideas?

Before you make the call, think to yourself, "How many times in the past has calling here been a good idea?"

Don't feel rained on. Been there done that.

I often find that when I am running a little bad its because of the same reason.

When you make a call ask yourself what you are hoping to accomplish.
What is your expected result.

Usually calling is for 1. Drawing to a big hand
2. Floating a weak pair or TPWK to a cheap
showdown.
3. Sniffing out a bluff ( hoping to slow opps down)
4. Slow playing a monster ( not applicable here)

Some things that helped me.

* When drawing ... make sure you have the odds.
* Make sure your re-calculate and re-evaluate each
street.
* When calling down with 2nd pair etc. do the same
before calling figure how much you have invested
to that point and is it really worth it to go further.
* Don't be afraid to fold to a bluff. Most player aren't.
bluffing, most are value betting,
and if they do buy the pot on the river how much
are they really buying?
* Think more of RAISING or FOLDING, call only as
a last resort. Raising should get you more
info to better define Ops hand.

Extreme stop gap measures:
* Don't draw to Gut shot srt8s.
* Don't play anything but top pair
* Tighten up our preflop range, and don't limp in - Raise or fold.

If it's thin calling just realize at the stakes your at they are barely bluffing. If it's like laying down top pair just think of this rule from ilikeaces86 post in High stakes forum.

Never call a flop raise without two pair or better (AA included) without a read.
