I was playing in a poker game my friends' coworkers put on periodically. None of the players were great poker players, though i had been up with some of them to the casino before.

One player who i hadn't met was extremely aggressive (on my left, and the SB in the posted hand) and i ended up surrending a couple good sized pots to him before this hand. Luckily, i found out later, he was a fish and played almost anything better than middle pair for a large pot and showdown. I had not gotten involved in a hand with this player for a long time. Against the rest of the table i was still playing aggressively. The game is 6 handed; due to extra players they had two tables running at the time. Rest of the table is loose/passive.

I would like some comments on my PF reraise, and any other comments/suggestions on my betting - especially the turn.

I will post some of my thoughts after i get some feedback.

Button(Her0): around $220
SB(Villan): around $350

UTG: calls
MP 1: calls
MP 2: folds
Button: (5d, 4d) calls
SB: raises to $2
BB calls, rest of the table folds
Button: raises to $7
SB: calls
BB: folds

Flop: (2, 3, A) rainbow

SB: bets $10
Hero: raises to $35

SB: calls $25

Turn: 9

SB: bets $30
Hero: raises to $80

SB: calls $50

River: K

SB: goes all in
Hero: calls all in

I don;t know how fishy he is but anyone half decent will realise that there's no way you would limp after 2 limpers with a premium so I say boo.

Inflating the pot with 5d 4d just seems like a stupid play to me against a calling station.

Raising from the button to $2 isn't a bad play, but I can't see re-raising that hand being profitable.

Seeing cheap flops and hitting (luckily like you did here) will probably yeild the same result.

When i was in the hand, it was the stack sizes that were important. Both my opponent and I are over 200BB's deep. That means if i want my opponent to make the biggest mistake possible (that is, for all of his chips), i need the pot to be big enough that he can get all of his chips in. Isolating the PF betting and seeing i made a small reraise against a very aggressive opponent who will almost certainly call the raise looks bad on its own. But, when you consider that i sacrified some PF value(14BB+) in the hopes of winning a +200BB pot the play looks a little better. Like i mentioned in the original post, this villan was willing to go all the way with just about any hand. I am not going to try to bluff him, so i don't lose value on failed c-bets. I am going to win with 2 pair or better hands for large pots since villan will probably call 3 bets to get to showdown with just about any kind of hand.

If you really want to raise preflop, raise when the action first gets to you on the button. A limp-reraise is retarded...

I quite like the play because stacks are so deep. If, as I think you are saying, you only reraised because you wanted to inflate the pot just against this opponent then it's good.

Looks to me like a very well thought out and executed way of getting a full 200xBBs from a specific opponent. nh sir.

not in this situation. Reread that section in NLTP and you'll see why.

Problem with reraising here is not the actual lost value in reraising a hand like 45s. In the context of 200BB stacks it's a small mistake at most. Problem is if he really has a hand this time (and LaGGs get hands too) like AK he might make a big reraise or shove and then you lose the chance to see a flop. With a hand like 45s, better to call rather than risk getting re-reraised

This is only 14:1, and you both need to hit (and you need to out-hit him). How much, on average, do you make when you hit 54 2 pair?
