Since its now spring, i treated myself to a new grill after my tournament win a couple days ago. It was time for an upgrade.

I bought it at Target for $135 including tax. Any bigger was about $200, but this is about all i need since im usually just cooking for me and my gf. The only thing it doesnt have that i would like is a an outside thermometer, but that was only on bigger units.

Post here your own setups, creations, and recipes. Tonite i made brats, grilled red potatoes, and grilled onion and green pepper but didnt have the camera around to take any pictures.

Make me some burgers

no pics of the grill, but last night i grilled up some shish kabobs w/ chicken, vidalia onion, red pepper, zuchinni, and mushrooms, all marinated in Kens Nothern Italian dressing overnight. It was divine.

I got a 3 burner grill a couple of years ago at Lowe's for only $30 more. I like it pretty well. It has a stainless exterior, which is a pain to keep clean....

I have a buddy that says when he does brats or Italian sausages, he actually only lights one or two burners and lets them cook on the side without the burner. Supposed to cut down on the grease that ends up squirting on the grill and burning. I haven't tried this trick yet.

I like to put corn on the cob on the grill in the husk after soaking in water.

I also found that if you like to use butter, but don't want the calories, the no calorie spray butters actually do a fair job in it's place....

Roasted red peppers over grilled chicken thighs marinaded in some worsticher, soy, and ginger - best thing ever. Easy to make. Its impossible to overcook chicken thighs.

Heres the recipe i might be doing tonite (if my gf will eat it, shes kind of picky so it limits what i can cook...).

Chicken Soprano Panini
Serves 4
- 4 8oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4c olive oil plus more for brushing
- 1 tbsp coarse ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh garlic
- 2 medium red peppers
- 4 ciabatta rolls
- 1/4c roasted garlic aioli (seperate recipe)
- 8oz sharp provolone cheese, sliced thinly
- 12 leaves fresh basil
-8 oz sliced pepperoni
- 8oz mozzarella cheese, sliced thin

I need a side to go with this, i was thinking either grilled potato wedges or some kind of salad, any suggestions?

tomato salad with basil
balsamic dressing and garnished with shaved parm cheese
or a ceasar salad

I only grill with charcoal. 2-level fire, steaks on the hot side, corn on the cob and red peppers on the cooler side, gg.

The charcoal just became a pain in the ass to light and was alot more time consuming. It was also alot harder to control the temperature, plus im not that awesome at cooking...

Chimneys make lighting it a snap (and no lighter fluid!). Takes about a half-hour, only 15 minutes longer than you need to preheat most gas grills anyway. Yeah, temperature control can be a bitch, but arranging the coals so that you have multiple zones of heat is really helpful. Gas is definitely easier, I just prefer the flavor/texture of meat cooked over really hot charcoal.

Eh, throw in some hickory or mesquite chips and you can get added flavor to a gas grill. I dont think the flavor difference is that extreme anyways. Tonite im making tropicl shrimp skewers with shrimp, pineapple, and sausage, and portabella mushroom and red potato skewers in olive oil and basil. Pictures coming soon.

The direct heat from charcoal is almost impossible to match on a gas grill. If you like your steaks crispy on the outside and rare on the inside, charcoal's better. Not to mention if you want to slowcook a pork shoulder... mmmmmm.

I'm sure your dinner will be great though. Enjoy the new grill!

me and my housemates bought a 5 eur grill when we moved in here 2 years ago. we made the worlds greatest steaks on it. the grill survived the whole winter 05/06 in the snow and made good food half his second season. then bad ppl stole our grill and had a grill party in front of our house with our grill, pretending it´s theirs. we never got it back, because my mates are weak and unwilling to fight for our right to grill.

i always think potato and peas with salmon.
i'm feeling very lazy right now,
so for the potato i would grab a bag of these chips

and thaw some frozen peas( i love frozen peas)
don't cook them in any way

or

a box of rice pilaf cooked with some spinach or arugula added at the end
and cook a box of frozen squash in the micro

or

if was feeling unlazy
grill some sweet potato
and make a salad with toasted pecans and fresh and dried fruit dressed with a fruit (orange juice or rasberry vinegar) based dressing

I just bought a monster grill this past weekend... I'll so some pics later.

Last night, I made Brats smothered in Sweet Vidalia onion sauce... magnificent, if I do say so myself.

Salmon with sweet maple glaze, grilled russet potato wedges, and a salad with roasted sunflower seeds and dried fruit and raspberry vingarette.

Char Griller- This one has been replaced with a new one that's exactly the same. I probably could have just replaced the rusty smoke box but the whole setup was decently priced and i couldn't resist. The underside is generally not as messy, but I was just tossing shit under there to get it out of the way :/

13 lb. turkey. It was my first (and only) time grilling a turkey or any whole bird for that matter. It turned out decent, but this is definitely something I want to work on and perfect.

I can't imagine how bud light would ruin that meal. Good beer would enhance the meal definitely, but I hardly think a little ethanol-laced piss-water is going to hurt anyone.

Meh, there were signs of imminent lameness via the mention of lemon pepper seasoning. Kinda reminds me of Lost, sooooooo awesome--> a bit worried but comitted --> omfg worst series ever.

holy shit, that's a pretty huge statement right there. especially if you're including Lost

got a new stainless 4 burner char-broil grill last week and haven't missed a dinner on the grill since!

also, +1 to the grilled asparagus. my favorite vegetable to grill hands down.

Not a vegetable, but peaches on the grill are awesome.. put them in a salad or some sort of desert. You've gotta make sure to clean and oil your grill though and it won't really work well on the dinky 8 gauge wire grills.. you need some good cast iron slats.

i love grilling peaches and pineapple in the summer for dessert

I must try this.

Pork tenderloins from this afternoon w/ Carolina Treet BBQ sauce. (I order this shit in bulk, it's the best!) Used the small kitchen deep fryer to fry some potato wedges and gf made some incredible cole slaw to go along with them.
