All you high stake ballers out there, you know who you are, I got a quick question.
I know a lot of you don't like taking money out of the bankroll to spend but I am sure you endulge in the occasional splurge. Anyone buy a clean ride for themselves? Car pics are appreciated!
before i had made 6 figs i paid cash for a new mazda3. i love the car though so no point in trading it in for something more baller now.
Thats pretty dope, did you actually bring in bricks of cash in rubber bands or did you use a cashiers check? I bet you probably could swing the full payment to your advantage to get a good deal off of MSRP.
My whip is in the shop right now so I have a rental car, its the Mazda6 and its pretty nice, I like the way it drives.
i did get a little knocked off from msrp.
the day i went there was on some holiday so banks were closed, and my check book was 3 hours away. i asked the guy at the dealership if i could pay on my debit card and him and all the other car salesmen laughed at me. damn.
i ran home, searched for 30 minutes and found the original temporary checkbook the bank gave me when i first opened the account. it had all sorts of designs on the checks AND my name wasnt printed on them, i had to write in myself. it just so happened that the top one was a monopoly themed check so i wrote my name on it (once back at the dealership of course) and filled out all the stuff. the car salesman laughed again (imagine getting a monopoly check from some punk kid with his name scribbled on the top corner) and said he needed to verify this money. the banks werent opened so he couldn't call them, so i just took command of his computer and opened up the online banking site and showed him how ballin i was.
Checkbook was 3 hours away, was it an impulse buy or something?
no was home for summer and my stuff was at school. im not organized at all or i would have brought it with me or kept one in each place.

well i didnt buy the car on that day, it was over a week in the making with my dad calling and hrassing them to knock off a bunch of money then him getting fake mad and not calling them back then them calling him back days later apologizing..
i didnt really care and was mad at him for doing it because i wanted to hurry and get a new car, but i think he was having fun with it

1.8L turbo-charged right? I just went with a buddy to the casino this weekend, and after he dropped 3 buy ins he was too pissed to drive and I got to smash back on the way home. I love that pur of the turbo, all though the elevation of the brake peddle was a little odd and took me some time to get used to.
I have now earned as much at poker as my last car cost, which is pretty cool, right?

I can never bring myself to buy anything with poker money because I don't want to halt my BR growth. I only play 2/4 but I don't think I'll be able to buy anything until I get to 5/10.

If you get the TV adaptor you can just plug it into your TV and watch the movies you downloaded. Thats pretty much the only way I could see anyone using the video feature.Quote:

Most dealerships now have an internet manager or something similar. You can probably find this on the manufacturer's web site. Find all dealerships within your area that you can drive to. Contact all dealerships within a comfortable driving distance(200 miles for me) and ask for a quote for the car with all specifics. Make sure they give you the final price including all fees, charges and taxes. Get line item details on each option and ask them to supply invoice price and sale price. Doing this you should be able to find the invoice price on non-factory options that may not be available anywhere else. Also ask about finance options.
Once you have all quotes, take the lowest 5 quotes(or however many you want). Taking the highest of those quotes, work up the list and ask them to beat your top price. Repeat this as many times as necessary. Once you have your rock bottom price, call the dealer you test drove at and see if they will match/beat the price. They won't because they have to pay an extra layer of commision. You now have your best price. Have them fax you a signed offer sheet(or whatever they call it) so you have it in writing. Make sure all figures match their quote and there are no extras charges or fees.
Find best financing available outside the dealership. If your winning bidder will match or beat it, by all means use it but don't be roped into using their financing without looking at all your options.
Misc notes:
- This will work best on widely available models. Special orders or hot selling or new models...not so much.
IMO it's much easier to handle everything but the test drive/evaluation on the phone/outside the dealership. These guys are trained to sell you stuff whether you need/want it or not. Don't give them the chance.
It also doesn't make sense to spend tens of thousands of dollars on something without comparing prices. Don't buy a car without looking at several dealerships. As mentioned above, the dealership you test drive at will almost always NOT be able to give you the best price because they have to pay commision to a salesman.
I used this method to buy a Honda CRV. I looked at about 10 dealerships in the area. The best price was 75 miles away and saved me four figures. You can get warantee service anywhere so the location you buy the vehicle at is irrelevant.
i saw some commercial for these on tv and had to get one. i ended up getting one last week from a local hobby store. i'm sure it's essentially the same as the one i saw on tv. i love chasing my dog around the apartment with it or fucking with my gf by just hovering it in from of the tv while she is watching or in the middle of the bathroom waiting for her to get out of the shower. i'm sure she'll break it any day nowQuote:
