Taking a shot at 100NL, heavy shit..

Please bare with this topic, I know 5 hands is a bitch but these are the type of crazy hands I'd expect to see in the highlights of a 5k sample, not in one session.. Plus I need a lot of help if I'm ever going to make good money.

HelloFishyCash was a really smart 30/15 TAG who had been giving me a shitload of trouble postflop in the first 80 or so hands I'd played with him, using his position well and floating and pouncing on weakness and pissing me off. I decided to take a stand so that he'd leave me alone a bit.

Hand 3: Fucking crazy shit. quito71 I hadn't seen much of, but I was pretty sure he was a retard. His push looks like a panic push that doesn't want a call, and it's probable that HelloFishyCash is thinking the same as me - he ran his timer down pretty heavy before calling the push. He also knows/thinks that I'm cbetting pretty much all of my PFR range here.

Hand 4: Sick flop, but can I get away? My opponent is a 17/12 type. I check on the flop so that he thinks 99, TT and AQ could well be good, although in hindsight this was probably the wrong move because seeing a turn card could really suck for me.

That shove doesn't look like it wants a call, but then again my hand may be faceup to him so he's decided to go for pwnage, I don't know.

I was planning to go for medium-pot value on the turn and river, but the river looked like a card that improved him a lot of the time.. Plus I felt I was better off getting a lot of money from the flush than trying to get small value out of a lot of one pair hands that may fold.

Hand 1 im thinking you should know how to play PF if you made it to 100nl

I would like hand 2 more with a pr/gutshot/some type of gin card.

Hand 3: JTx boards suck for overpairs, I'm really not sure about that hand

Hand 4: I 3bet bigger being OOP but it's a small point. You tried to induce a bluff and you did. Do 17/12's isolte with 9T type hands on the button?

Hand 5: make is $4 PF, bet bigger on the flop turn so it's an easy call for him on the river.

hand 1: either or. i've done both. don't really care much for either. probably 60/40 call/fold.
hand 2: interesting raise...if this is standard you're probably running 30/20. i think i like the turn CRAI. i never do stuff like this, but i think it's +EV (especially since you picked up 3 more outs)
hand 3: cry and call. you have outs against 2 pair.
hand 4: yuck indeed. i cbet the flop. i don't think you can call this turn. the best you're hoping for is him having 99 or TT. JJ/QQ are in the majority of his calling 3bet range, as KK/AA would probably repop it a 4th time.
hand 5: raise more preflop, you made this very cheap for him. i like most overbets.

Am I correct in assuming the KTs is an autofold in this spot unless villian is raising @ > 20% PF? And even then if you weight to the higher end of the range it's still a bad play?

KT should be auto-fold. Stacks are too small. If villain raises too much, 3bet or fold KT, don't call with it.

He misread the board, 4-9 and 5-10 don't reach. 5-9 reaches but there's no 7 or 8. I'm not too keen on listening to his advice after he said he'd call a raise in that spot with KTs. You're taking like 15% the worst of it against a 10-12% PFR range.

IMHO positional advantage isn't worth 10%+ range equity deficit.

Suited connectors make 4 straights, KT only makes 2, although you've got a shot at broadway with KT, and if you don't hit QJx exactly on the flop any straight draw you pick up will be a gutshot (J9x, Q9x), and your other gutshots all put an A on the board (AJx, AQx). So you're basically playing this hand for weak straight potential and flush potential. Still seems VERY marginal to call raises with this hand.

What do I know though.

hand 1: The preflop call is bad but not terrible if hes pretty tight and you plan to take it down postflop sometimes when you both miss. Its much better if the raiser is predictable, the fish has already called the raise and you have position on both of them. If the decent TAG will sometimes 2 barrel and the fish will often fold preflop then its pretty bad.

hand 2: preflop and flop are ok. Turn Id probably just fold. He probably doesnt 2 barrel that often when the A flops and its a drawy board unless he has the A and he might be more likely to call your push on such a drawy board. Its ok if you think he folds the AK/AQ but if hes a " really smart player" he probably puts you on what you have especially if he thinks you are getting frustrated.

hand 3: Its pretty close but I dont think 1 pair is good often enough Vs 2 players. You cant really rely on the timing since if hes smart he will think for ages with JJ here aswell.

hand 4: maybe a pair plus draw? I doubt he pushes many better hands here so I think you can call unless hes good/likely to be levelling.

hand 5: I think he pushes with almost all of his hands that call a push here so I think its better to half pot it to get value from a Q and then get it in if he raises/pushes. He probably folds the Q to a push here.

In general don't try to be so clever with your play. When people play at you in small pots and you decide to "take a stand" by playing a big pot with a weak hand you are doing exactly what they want. That is exactly how LAGs make money. When you do it against a TAG its even worse. I think you are overvaluing position a little with respect to how weak you can go with big cards. KTs isnt that playable to a TAGs raise whether you are in position or not.

Hand 1: Fold
Hand 2: spew... sometimes it scares a weak hand away, but it's often called by a decent hand as that was not a scare card
Hand 3: raise to $4 preflop, at first i was into calling but for only $2 more j10 22 are probably calling, I think one player probably has you beat while the other is donking. Really torn here but I probably fold, I think a call isn't that bad though
Hand 4: fold without a good read
Hand 5: missing value with a shove, bet half pot and if he has a flush he will push

hand 2: I don't mind the turn push, if you are trying to make a stand. I like
it more if he's not a call centre, and capable of folding a weak ace

hand 3: I agree with Pelion, he would pause with a very strong hand here to convince
you into calling behind. I probably fold here.. but its gross. For sure one flush draw
out there (first push) and the call could be anything.

hand 4: I think I call this. Your hand is so underrepped its not funny.

hand 5: I push this sometimes, but reading the comments, maybe betting smaller is better.
