Moving up on Stars.
I've been grinding away at Stars 6-Max $2NL for about a month, and I've finally got my bankroll up to the point where I can move up to $5NL.
I've played about 16k hands at $2NL, and I'm well in profit. For about the first 10k hands I was more *learning* to play NLHE 6-Max, now I feel I've got my strategy, and I just to need to build and adapt it, rather than construct it from scratch it. I think I've got the basic idea.
For the last 6k hands I've run PT stats of about 21/12, and I think I'm tight-agg.
Now that I'm moving up to $5NL, I'm just wondering what kind of diffrences I'll be up against. Does anyone have experience here? Is the play at Stars $5NL any different to $2NL, or is exactly the same just with bigger blinds? How should I adapt? If I consistently beat $2NL, shoudl I be able to do the same at the next level, without any adaptation?
Thoughts? Pointers?

there's probly not going to be much difference really. $10nl will play close to the same also. When you get to $25nl is when you will see a noticable change, but if your a solid winner throughout the lower stakes you should have no problem.
Congrats on moving up!

I was at 5NL last year. I am at 25NL now, and I just moved up from 10NL. 5NL plays about the same as 2NL, except there will be less complete idiots going all in pref lop every time. But I only played maybe 50 hands at 2NL. One strategy that works well at 10NL and below is to shove when you have the nuts or close to it and you think your opponent has a piece of the board. Often they will call because they have a "feeling" you are bluffing. You should play your same game at both levels, just focus on playing solid.

When I moved from FR to 6max, I grinded my way from 2NL to 25NL on stars. But I actually skipped 5NL, because 2NL is 250 big blind buy-in ($5) so from a bankroll perspective I was rolled for 10NL.
There is a slight strategy change due to the change in implied odds going from a 250bb to a 100bb game, this is something you should be aware of anyway but is most apparent at 2NL because you can buy in deep.

DemonDaze: What BR rules do you play by? I play 2000BB BR to play in a cash game. I.e, for $2NL I need $40.

sounds like you have sounds BR management. Stats are pretty solid for a guy this new to poker.

I'm new to Micro stakes NL 6-max cash online, but I've played a few months of micro stakes 6-Max FL online, quite a few B&M SnG's, and I've been playing online STTs for over a year.
