I was wanting some general advice on bankroll management if anyone has tips.
I try to keep about 250-300 BB to determine what limits I play as my minimum ideal. My real question is: if I find myself really up on a table, say I triple up, would it be wise to get up and bank it, or just keep playing while the fish are swimming?
I appreciate the direction, but mostly this post is a guideline to how many BB or buy-ins to keep on hand, and also to a spreadsheet to track said winnings. I was probably a bit unclear in my subject header and wish I could change it, but my primary question is: when winning, when is it prudent to get up? If I suddenly find myself with a large % of my bankroll in play due to winnings, should I get up and change tables in order to 'bank' this money, particularly if there are other big stacks at the table who can cover me, or take a large amount from my stack with a single bad play?
I would say if you are trying to build a bankroll and still not confident in your play, then yes, get up and go to a different table. If you are confident however, stick it to the other big stacks and get yourself a really big stack.Quote:

and welcome to the forums. As XTR1000 already said that's a pretty short bankroll für no limit cash-tables. The general opinion on FTR about that is that you should have about 20 buy-ins for the given table. As an example: 0.10$/0.25$ cash tables at pokerstars have a maximum buy-in (the amount you can bring to the table) of 25$ (100xBB), which means that you will need about 500$ on your bankroll to play at that table. So in essence you'll need 2000xBB on your bankroll to play at the given table, just as a pointer and which is why XTR1000.
About your question: I have to say that it is considered bad poker etiquette to leave a table immediatly after you've won a big pot. However it is your money. In general there is one other thing. If you have this feeling, that you want to get up and save the money you just won you're playing at stakes too high for your bankroll (just a little psychological twist). So I don't really know what to advise you here. Just remember one general rule: "Scared money never wins". So if you don't feel confident enough to continue playing then you probably should leave.

That´s okay. The 20 BI rule applies only, if u weren´t able or willing to reload. Actually, your BR is considered the amount of money you are willing to play poker with, in your case probably more than the 300BB you have on the pokersite of your choice.Quote:

Based on the fact that you posted this thread, I would say there's approximately a 99.5% chance that you suck at poker. So here's what you do.
Start with about 20 buyins at 2nl or 5nl. This means either $40 or $100. Now, don't put anymore money into your poker account ever. Instead, grind through the limits and get good at poker. Then, the higher you get, take a slightly higher bankroll requirement than the stakes previous so that you better protect your poker bankroll.
When you have $100, play 5nl. (20 buy-ins)
When you have $250, play 10nl. (25 buy-ins)
When you have $750, play 25nl. (30 buy-ins)
When you have $1750, play 50nl. (35 buy-ins)
When you have $4000, play 100nl. (40 buy-ins)
When you have $10000, play 200nl. (50 buy-ins)
If you follow this and regularly play and work on your game, you'll be making a lot of money in less than two years imo.
