This looks like a fold but his line is so strange.
He only needs to be bluffing a little over 25% of the time to make this a call.

His turn range is something like

Which were 50/50 against when the river hits - but then he open shoves.

He's a 55bb early position open limper who's put in half his stack already playing his hand exactly like weak player with a draw that hit on turn.

If a decent/thinking player open shoved I'd fold in an instant, zeebo theorem etc, he knows he has no fold equity.

But I really think a weak player as you said just cant fold his flush
and he's shoving a lot of his flush range like he has some hope of representing a 6 or a better full house.

I'm Lucy Goosey, honest, but the three hands I've replied to I would have to advice folding. That includes this one; I think villains most likely hand is a medium overpair making a house on the river.

This is said with all the information laid out bare and with time to reflect.

In the heat of the moment there's a good chance I would call (talking myself into thinking that the river bet was small enough / the pot and my chances big enough), that it was worth the rest at this stage.

I also think this is marginal; if your opponent has a flush and knows he's not gonna fold to a bet, then he would be correct to shove.

So one reason why he may shove the flush, without it being entirely born of frustration, would be the incorrect application of a correct NL poker concept. He hit's on the turn and decides he's commited to the hand, no matter what; just a question of when the chips go in.

Ummm I think your missing a good point by kawomp. If he feels that he hit his flush and he's not going to fold he may very well shove in his flush, even though i agree that he may very well not. But then again he could have some missed straight draw and then shove because he puts will on AK.

so he has..uhh...89 with one heart? this is dumb

MP is a 111 stack so im assuming he's a fish, so more like A7, 97, 7x, A8, 89, 8T etc.

yeah the reason i thought it was close was because other than quads nothing makes sense, but even a 6 probably raises turn or flop. and i couldnt conceivably see him having a 5 here. then again donkeys never cease to amaze me.

go ahead and post the results so i can tell you what you should have done

Despite being one of the stronger advocates as to why this hand was close, I do and have always, agreed with the fold.

Of course it's never close on the chances of winning; just the odds if you do win make it marginal. Generally fold, you'd have had to have seen some pretty wierd plays from the villian prior to this hand to reasonably call.
