25NL - Aces are probably beat

This is a standard situation I often come up against and I don't know if betting the turn or checking is best. What's your default play here?

I really see no issue betting here and I think you are usually ahead. I think you have to bet, a raise says yes I have a jack, a call or fold can mean mid pair or flush draw.

b/f > c/c. Also why the funny pre amount? Just make it $1, no?

Bet is standard.

I do wonder if mixing up a c/r sometimes is good.
Probably more viable in a pot that was headsup from the start.
- We're hoping villain bets turn with worse hands a decent portion, which would have folded to a bet
- if it gets checked through we can pretty often get another street of value from mid PP, which we wouldn't have got on the turn.

I'm not sure how those weigh into risking a free card.

are you saying that we are never ahead here?

check/raise seems like a good way to win the least/ lose the most. He can take a free card with draws and bet Jx/ FH and weve basically screwed ourselves.

Bet/fold looks good. Also check/fold is 0EV so anything better than check/fold must be +EV.

depends on villians turn aggression.

if he's passive I bet fold. (dont give flush free card and he's not raising anything we beat usually)

aggressive I might c/c (he'll bet out with flush draw, str draw & midpp & its important to exploit them in this way & also discourage them from floating in pos in future.)

probably wouldnt cr on this J turn though I think we would be paying him off too muchif he does have a J.

Interesting that we've got a lot of different replies.

I posted this because I used to always lead this type of hand and then come unstuck. This time I checked and, guess what, I'm fucked anyway.

I think this is maybe opp dependant.

I should add that I was also concerned I might be steaming after Aces had lost for me 3 out of the 4 previous times I'd held them.

I'm usually not a fan of picking nits.

But isn't Check/Fold -EV = Your equity in the pot?
