I agree with this. His range is so wide since he can really have anything here: set, two pair, flush draw etc. What made you think his range was so thin? All he did was call pre, and check to the raiser on the flop?

Your range is really really thin. what hand would you play this way? All you can really have is T8, or J9 (which you'd bet the flop with probably) or JT maybe which you checked through the insider on the flop but you wouldn't raise this turn.

I think this kind of play: raise PF, check through flop and raise turn works better on A,K or Q high flops where you might check through a high set, but doesn't work as well on low flops (since you'd never check through 99,77,22 on this flop cause they would never put you on those hands)

His range is huge... I'm curious on whether you have misunderstood what a thin range means or you just are having trouble with hand reading?

What I was thinking was his range was made up of a ton of weak hands and only a small number of strong hands that would continue after I raised. I guess thats what I called thin. So % wise I figured that a raise should be profitable since he should be folding a large % of the time. I didn't realy think about what I was repping which I think is the problem here.

so whats the real definition of thin then?

a thin range means like there are few hands he is representing. You probably got it confused with value betting thin where thin is referring to the small positive expectation of the play.

the thinking of him not having much that can continue here is ok if he isnt thinking about what you have. i dont really see the play being profitable, maybe neutral ev.

i think his range is stronger then you think. he called ur raise from the sb, and he is a 15/13. this basically means he is calling with like 22-99, possibly TT, and probably JTs, QJs, AJ. idk im just throwing a lot of hands out there, but the point is, from his range, with paint on the turn, i dont think he is betting anything worse then 88, and its very possible he could have a combo draw, as well as pair +gut shot, but you have to fold to any river aggression if he calls, obv. idk all in all, i dont like this raise, because i think he at least calls with a lot of his range.

no his range isnt strong or anything but against good players every one knows your range ISNT strong, so it doesnt matter so much about how strong his range is

exactly ... but cuz he's a weak player your play is probly +ev, he's folding if he doesnt have a jack. if he;s a good player, things change. i just assume everybody is bad until they prove me otherwise though.
