I don't even know what a judy is! Pshh, and I thought I was a player. I'll never be able to respect myself again.
Normal lines with a set are lead pre, and bet hard on all streets when the board seems particularly dry. Or limp pre, and bet out on a low flop. Watch their position too. You will see less small sets from early position. (However, it may not be much less at microstakes.)
This is usually what I watch out for, but there are always a number of hands that can take many different lines. Practice putting your opponents on ranges in general, and you will learn from experience what hands "scream" set. You will eventually get to the point where you can tell which set they have in most cases.
when people be abetting you need to start afretting aka when normal passive or str8 forward players or going crazy u can usually come to the conclusion they have a set or better.
Sometimes you know if the guy is playing a pair preflop. Otherwise, no.
Against the regular nits at Titan 20NL, it's really easy : first they limp/call a raise. Then they just call the Cbet.
When they have a A TPTK kind of hand, they raise it. By smoothcalling they try to represent a draw, but these guys never play the kind of hand that can draw (small SCs).
Of course this depends on the kind of player your facing.
