Well I dropped $81 last night. Reason I didnt break evem was bcoz I spewed a buyin with AK. AK seems to be my favourite spew hand, I think a good idea after I have a losing & spewing session is to do hand analysis f some hands from that session. So thats what Ill try to do today, Ive a bunch of hands here to get through.

imo this is completely standard. He should drop all his broadways and i dont mind taking down the flop now. I expect him to call with almost all his PP hands 22-JJ. I assume he easily 3 bets QQ+. So he calls!!

Turn card is a safe card imo overall and gives me a NFD and my overs are good. I think this is where I may of made a mistake vs this type of player, i think i could of c/c turn instead of b/f turn. Im defo behind now on turn imo since i assume he dropped his non pair hands plus theres no flop draws really. Also I think my b/f bet sizing is poor, if you notice I actually overbbet shoved turn whihc could of been avoided had i bet more on turn like $20-$22. This sets up any bluff river nicely by shoving since it doesnt look like a fishy overbet.

Also to note that theres probably no hand I wud play this way which really sucks but its not that bad vs bad players.

Opp had TT which is among the very top of his range.

Sometimes I do check behind of these flops. Reason I did bet is bcoz 1) I think my overs are fairly good since opp has wide calling range esp in BB 2) T is an out too 3) Opp is passive so I can check back turn alot 4) Id be happy taking pot down if he has a lower PP. Point 4 isnt that important since I cud take away the pot on a later street.

I think river is a totally std value bet here or if opp bet a decent amount then its an easy call. When he check raises I throw up, while it looks liek an easy call getting $16 to win $68.5 ie. 23%. I really think im beat here a ton bcoz if opp has a low PP, Jx,Qx opp is either gonna c/c or c/f. Opp wud bet river with his Kx + stronger hands, maybe Qx if he is capable. So why wud this passive opp go for a c/r??? Is he bluffing??? Hell no he aint, he is raising the minimium and WANTS a call. So he at least has 2pair,sets or straights, theres no way I can profitably call. but i do call ;)

Dryish board vs passive opp who is unlikely to bluff raise. I bet a slightly smaller than usual bet to may keep a few additional holdings in for a single street. these additional holdings likely have just 2 outs vs us so checking turns are good.

J isnt a great card for my hand since i now only beat KT,K8. I do still VB expecting my weakness to be called by Kx and 9x hands. When he raises we shud assume he isnt bluffing raising or VBing weaker hands. I think he will just call with all his marginal Kx,9x type hands which leads us to beleive he raises 2 pair, set or straight for minimium on river. he really isnt likely to raise up the river bcoz 1) he really doesnt have any air in his range 2) While i look weak he still doesnt have air in his range so theres no value is raising crap or Sd type hands. But i do call bcoz im a fish :)

Hand 4 - This is a spot where I made a fairly silly error tyring to mix up my play then not knowing wtf to do after that. I actually lead the flop here for about $6-7 and got called. hadnt a clue wot to do on turn.

i didnt 3bet since he was a fairly tight player who stole little so i decided to keep pot small OOP and call. i think he fires flop 100% if checked to therefore making a c/c>>>>>>leads or c/r. There are very little turn scare cards for him to double barrel so if he fires again then i can safely fold.

Hand 1: definitively do not 2nd barril on TURN. He's not folding and not raising, so c/c is much better. As played RIVER should be c/f. With his stats you're not getting him to fold 55 or 66.
Hand 2: Boy, I also hate those min raises on RIVER! I also had one yesterday. However, you are beat here, I should (even if I didn't yesterday either ;-)) find a fold vs this guy.
Hand 3: idem.
Hand 4: Here I c/c FLOP and villain will most likely check TURN behind (if he 2 barrils a high card then I fold, if he fires on a low card then I might fold also) and I'll fire 1/2 bet on RIVER if he likes to bet RIVER IP or checks if he's passive.

Just to add comment on this hand. I was talking with spenda about it and im convinced turn is a c/c spot. Also jimmy confirms, thx for the input.

Betting sucks bcoz we are unlikely to fold out any better hands. c/c is good since 1) we do have a ton of outs, any flush card, A & K 2) Opp is passive and will check back alot 3) Opp is passive and may just bet a smallish amount. We discussed that a c/r woudl be a good play if opp had a high AF since he will be betting here alot.

Also discussed with spenda this hand too.

C/c is the best line vs this opp. then c/f turn, c/f river with some c/c rivers mixed in depending on situation.

But also what if opp wasnt that nitty, if he was say a 20/15 and i had a hand i didnt wanna 3bet like say 66. I call flop is same K53. I woudl be much better to instead c/r flop with my 66. Reason being that if i just c/c, whats my range?? 55,33,KQ,66-88. So if he is half decent he should be aware of my range and fire alot of second barrels therefore it is much more prudent to c/r this flop where he will c/b 100% instead of maybe getting blown off your hand on turn.

Change of topic slightly, dealing with nits UTG.

Say instead of TT we have AK or AA on BTN vs UTG, what should we do?? I think now theres a very good theory that flatting is better, ';flatting AA is like flopping bottom set''. First off opp isnt gonna call us with AJ and AQ so raising AK and AA is a waste. we want 99&TT is stay in also which may fold also to a 3bet. If a flop comes Kxx then we can get at least 2 streets of value form KQ,AQ,AJ or is flop is all low etc. Now if we apply this to my HH above then if we flat AK or AA then we can get alot of value from a nits range since our c/r range seems so FoS since we can only have 33 and 55 since we c/c KQ and 3bet AK pre.

min c/r almost always tend to not be a bluff (not always the nutz but not a bluff) since it just isnt a good bluff bet size since they would want a fold. There really isnt any meta game aspect since 1) Its a donk player doing it 2) Donk wont really know how to adjust 3) Ppl just arent paying attention anyway 4) Regs wont min c/r bluff rivers anyway like ever 5) Ppl very rarely c/r bluff rivers either.

btw Bigred I dont think its really a crying call. Its a call where you cant resist a gamble knowing your beat. They are easy folds. But I am station.

Hand 5 - Opp was about 40/6. He had been calling me alot preflop OOP in blinds and i was crushing him postflop till he won a 20bb pot as few hands ago. Now he has finally 3bet me preflop.

Advice on my line. Im not sure exactly what his 3bet means but I do have a great hand for the situation and its ez preflo call.

I think this line is pretty much super standard with almost all my range that should continue in the hand. Opp had bet pot here which seemed to be his standard move. He is passive when not having initiative but seems to bet pot when he can.

Balance your ranges in this spot, and bet this flop. He's peeling a bet light anyhow, because he expects you to bet it. He might even call two streets with Qx not believing you and your barrels.

Where as he'd likely check through Qx in this spot.

If I squeezed with crap then yes a bet/fold is always what I wud do. So if i bet here we are betting flop and turn but we are played bet/fold poker??

Would you ever c/r in this spot with this flop with any holdings or is it unnecessary. Interesting point Griff that if my play looks like a squeeze then I should bet my strong hands alot.

I came to the conclusion that a set wud of put in a raise at some stage so i put him on Qx, some Qx have flush suits and could well play passively. Jimmy I think that if i raise turn then i should be calling off since it turns AA into a bluff almost. So i think calling turn is a better line. I dont have great reads here but I though opp could of hit T9 most times. His line with a set is very strange. I think call turn and most rivers is good.

I'm not really sure what I'd do with a raise in this spot. I mean, if your plan was to c/r then you don't mind getting it in, so b/c could be ok.

Depends on reads I suppose. Some players like min-raising A high flops with bluffs and crap in 3-bet pots... so hard to say.

I probably wouldn't c/r much here with air. Its a much more expensive bluff. Maybe I'd c/r like KJd's or something like that, but I'd probably just b/c with those.

raising $3 imo is just as good imo, ppl call with same range of hands and c/b's are cheaper and v good value. imo this isnt a flop i wanna c/r allin since it folds out a ton of his range. when i lead 1/3 ill get bluff raised a ton so then i call. i hope he fires turn again since i look so weak. on river i fgure he has like AQ or AK alot so i bet an amount he can call with that. i think my bet either has to be about $46 or $78.

This and that an aggro player will raise somewhere with a set/TP.
However, we cannot try this against a 30/15 player as 6max they'll can you thin (i.e. QQ/JJ/TT or even K3). The same applies against a player with whom you have history against and he knows you cal 3barril bluff.

Theres no read about his postflop aggression, just his preflop aggression. Theres also no mention about heros image at the table. If he's been playing aggressive then a good player will take this line a lot.

I still ask, what range of cards call flop and turn but fold to river? TJ is about the only hand I can think of, and that would be bad to call turn with. So against his range, what % of his hands does he fold to the 3 barrel?

QQ-TT, low K and maybe KJ/KQ (but this depends on Hero's latest aggression).

I think that range is way too wide, but even so, someone who'll call two barrels with that range will call 3 (except 67, missed that one). You're giving a relative unknown who you think will call 2 streets with a mediocre hand the ability to lay it down to a 3rd. That just seems unlikely if he's continued with those kinds of hands so far.

I just checked now, and indeed, something doesn't add up. If villain is competent he will not call a 2barril with something like A8o, however QQ-TT he might. He might (and he might not also) fold river with KQ/KJ. With our bet we need to have a fold from villain around 43%.

Let's put villain on range on RIVER: 66-QQ,67,89,JT,KT+. That's about 7*6 + 16 + 16 + 16 + 16*3 = 138 combinations. Of which he will fold: 67,JT,66,77,TT-QQ,KT which represnts 16 + 16 + 6 + 6 + 6*3 + 16 = 78 combinations. Which is 58% of hands he folds.
Even if you remove JJ-QQ it's 48% hands he folds.
We could also remove 89 as he might raise 2 pairs IP on FLOP, but these would represent the times he would push/bluff.

Anyway, it was fun doing these calcs ;-)

things are going well, ive not posted here much sadly since ive just been trying to grind and review mine and otheres HHs.

Im grinding 6max on everest and its fairly ez so im 6 tbling there. softwares slower than other sites and the play is generally very bad so i neednt focus too much on regs since the are god awful too. def a huge change from 100nl on prima which is nit world, playing nits is so boring and annoying im not gonna like it when i start going against loads of them when i move up.

i see you've been playing some HU! how many hands have you played? are you going to keep playing HU on everest while grinding? how beneficial do you think heads up play has been to your 6max game? i've played only a couple thousand hands and mostly i've found it's like playing a different game lol.

i can with total confidence that HU will make you a much better player, dunno if i mentioned it above but i also got a coaching session from isf too just as a started playing HU.

Ive not played a super ton of HU hands but i prob wont be playing any HU on everest since the software for it is fucking ridiculiously bad/slow tho players are soft. also isf mentioned in HU forum that playing HU below 200nl is not good since rake dominates big time!!!

imo its really not THAT different but it really does improve your soul reading skillz. anway ill continue grinding 100nl on evp since it seems v soft at the moment.

Played 515 hands last night for a whopping $2 ;) Went down 1.5 buyin in first few hands 89s>AA>my QQ in 3bet pot and allin on flop and lost some hands vs shorties. Grinded back up to +a buyin but ran so so cold and dropped back, i pulled the plug on my session since i noticed how horrible i started playing and just had zero cards. meh just one of them times so i pulled the plug and reviewed HHs for an hour after.

back from rome now.

played last night and won a buyin at 100nl. actually played like 24/19 for 2 hours which is a big difference than my usual nit crap. i think something has clicked and im not afraid to go with my reads and mix things up.

BR about 4k exactly. If i feel confident when i hit 5k i may mix in some 200n tbls.

Opp was 25/25. 3bets 14% overall so more in blinds imo. so he seemed aggro to me tho ive not history im aware of.

I choose to call preflop IP but when i do this im not playing fit or fold poker and ill take some risk playing a bit more creative.

Ok so we hit a good flop for us to make a move, its very dry and he will c/b a large amount here. we have some options;

call/float is okay and if we hit Q or K opp cud 2 barrel us but since opp is a seemingly aggro opp then i dnt think he will shutdown so much in these spots and let me take control. if i called id check back turn to make my hands look like ive actually got a made hand then fake VB riv.

A better option imo is to just shove and try take it down now plus my hand has better bluffing equity vs his calling range than alot of other holdings.

lets say he will call with only 88+ which is very reasonable since i strngly doubt any other hand can call;
with KQ we have 15% equity when called
with 66 we have 7.7%
with AQ we have 17%
with JT we have 8.6%

Basically we have twice the equity to other hands we may call preflop with. if i had 66 in this spot i may float instead of shove.

great update DG, hope you're back at 200NL very soon.

Didnt get much chance to do much this weekend since its my bday 2m and i spent the weekend drinking mostly. had one small session for -$54 but i had only like 30min to play so whatever.

Bankroll is officially exactly $4,000. While it looks like ive been around this mark for awhile now ive actually paid further coaching of $415 in meantime. So now i expect to keep this roll together with mayeb get some more coaching b4 years end. Again I wanna say that at $5,000 i will look at shots at 200nl.

Also i plan to still play a laggier game than my usual 19/16. Ive played at 23/19 lately and the style seems to suit me and it makes the games a hell of alot more fun too.

Played a sesh tonight and gonna watch a DC video now.

Took a shot at 200nl :). Mixed in 2 tbls of 200nl into my mix of 4-6 tbls of usually 100nl. I choose not to just 2 tbl bcoz I wanted to play a tight game and not get bored plus tables were fishy enough to play straight forward.

Overall I won $287. A buyin at 200nl and one at 100nl.

One tough hand vs unknown. i took alot of time on turn and riv to decide but with his preflop limp i assuemd he was bad and I cudnt put him on a stronger hand so i moan called.

on the last hand you posted i'd rather c/c the turn, since i don't think we can get three streets of value when the flop was so dry. If i bet the turn it would be with the intention of folding to a raise. Glad it worked out of course :)

i dont think b/f turn should be the play here.

we should heavily discount 22 and 44 leaving us with 77 as his only set. I think 77 is unlikely since i think ppl would raise that preflop aswell as and especially 99 so all his sets are out. So only hand im behind on turn is 79 BUT and ive thought about this some.......

......ive seen alot of opp do weird things with hands that have minimal showdown value (but still have value), i think this guy found out that his J7 hand was really just no good here so he starts overrepping his hand. I think the guy cud do it with 2x,4x,7x, 9x (tho i dicsount 9x alot obv). So this puts alot more hands in his bluffing range which could include silly gutshots/overcards/pair+fd/fd+overs etc.

So i call turn bcoz im getting value from nothing I beat by raising. The riv bring an Ace and a completed OESD buyt i wasnt worried about that since he likely just calls my turn bet to draw.

my riv call is still a cry call since i wanted an easy time moving up ;)

had another quick sesh at 200nl. won half a buyin. ran fairly meh i sucked out T9 on 9TJ vs 87 allin on flop vs super aggro donk. That win got me up past break even, lost alot of medium pots. I got sucked out on some in them but im happy that I lost the minimum in them spots.

nice! braver than I - I pulled out $5k and decided to drop to 50nl playing 100buyins deep for a while rather than face moving up to 200nl...

Well I totalled up the number of hands I played in August and it was a pityful 10,000 hands, wtf!!! I just play 4 tbls about 6-8 hours per week and I really figured I get more in.

So my goal is obv get more hands in. However I think its not a case of spending more time on the pc but instead using that time more effectively. For example Ive 3.5 hours free time on certain days but probably play just 2 hours then watch vids. So last night I played for 3 hours straight then watched 1/2 a vid. I wanna try keep this up but it is toughish, about 2 hours in i noticed myself tighten up alot and not play with as much focus but in the last 30 min I got a second wind and was back to playing well. I hope to keep this up.

Since my last entry I had a -$75, +$200, +$200 sessions all at 100nl I think. Im gonna grind the 100nl tables for a bit I think until i figure out how the fuck eyepoker datamine tool works, I just cant figure that shit out.

Why check flop and turn in hand one? Are you THAT sure he'll valuetown himself?

Hand 2 looks like a blocker from him IMO. He only has pot behind. Pushing now isn't bad, but I think call and let him hang himself on river might be sexy too...

Hand 3 I think I raise flop and then go passive from there if he calls and leads turn.

1. Why flop c/c? Easy cbet with your entire range, no?

2. Prob fold pre with only a 6% 3bet. I usually like raising the flop better, but it depends on opp. I think I flat turn as played.

Hand 1 - I put him on a very smallish range when he calls me preflop. And the flop A can kill alot of my action vs TT+ so i decide to c/c here expecting all worse Ax hands to bet and some underpairs/air to bet too (btw im not afriad of a flush). IM kinda willing to rep JJ-KK here. Btw imo it was either c/b or c/c not c/r since we are fairly deepish.

On turn he bets again which is fine since im repping JJ-KK imo but I dont go for another c/c street bcoz I dont want to let another card come and i expect him to check back alot on river. I decide pot is large enough to try just take down so i c/r.

Hand 2 - I agree folding preflop is totally fine, i felt some dynamics to call tho plus i love playing 3bet pots IP. I think I should flat call here ALOT since he keeps my range alot wider and he may stack off an overpair on riv.

Hand 3 - Cman I rly dont like raising flop bcoz;
- I dont want to get allin on flop
- I dont wanna bloat the pot
- im not willing to keep firing barrels
- I wont be able to narrow down his range much
- calling keeps alot of worse hands in

Sadly i think this may be the only way t play it :(

Well I cant beleive Ive not played any poker in a week. I had a few things to do but I def had plenty of opportunities to play. Ive been in a limbo about what I wanna do regards poker. Either keep shooting for 200nl 6max or try a change and play HU 100nl. My problem is I still cant set up eyepoker to mine 200nl for me and I dont wanna move up/shoot at 200nl with having done my research abit AND Im abit afraid :( of 100nl HU since that could well be very costly if swings hit me hard.

Anyway Ill decide when I get home this evening. In the past week though Ive been watching tons of HU videos and trying to learn lots. Ive bought an A4 pad yday and Ive been writing down concepts etc form the videos. So far Ive done one krantz vid and a WiltonTilt vid, the notes are quality imo. There are so many concepts missed when you just watch a video without notes.

Do you do any study from articles? I printed about ten of my favourite FTR articles, and for each of them I'm going and sitting down with a pen and paper and playing through the ideas being described. I think that this (i.e. taking notes) is one of the best ways to improve.

as for poker videos! I've watched a couple of the FTR ones and one from a 2+2 reg guy I play against a bunch to help me exploit him. Sometime I'll get around to watching more, maybe. Dunno, i haven't read a book yet either, I think there are resources enough here and elsewhere. But videos definitely do help people with some concepts - I play Full Tilt and it seems as though all the other regs have gone and used their fpps to join cardrunners. It sucks. I think that the cardrunners thing is the worst thing to happen to the game quality on FT. I never used to get 3-bet, nobody used to defend their blinds, people barely ever floated, overpairs never folded. And this was only two months ago...

I read forums some depending on my mood. i mostly try to read a book if i can or watch videos. I think ill stick to getting out the pen and paper for the videos since they have a way better noise to content ratio ;)

Well there was no HU games going on ipoker so i played 6max tonight.

Sucks but i lost $324 tonight :(, im not mad or sad. I think I played fairly well and lost $158 at 200nl. i got top 2 pair in vs 60bb who had a set in a raised pot BvB. and lost $166 at 100nl where JJ>AA. I didnt kinda spew a buyin maybe it was close.

Ah well BR is at $5,255. well since ive counted my roll im a little tilted im below $5,500 :)

+$265 last night just playing 100nl. I actually went back to playing on prima instead of on ipoker. Im thinking both sites actually play very similiar and since the waiting lists for the decent tbls on prima were lower I went for that.

I also bought eyepoker and primaeye since i wanna improve my selection for 200nl. ive still to figure out eyepoker but alt least i can grind prima while i try fix eyepoker. plus the RB im getting on prima is quality.

I finished reviewing WiltonTilts HU video, reviewed krantz Lighsabers 2 - Ep 3 i think. Krantz vids ar eusually quality. I also got in his Lightsabers 1 - Ep 8 last night but I made no notes while watching since i felt it was pretty poor overall and he talked about other series coming and spots were standard etc.

Another good sesh in the bag for +$452 at 100nl. im mining primas 200nl so hope to play that soon, again ive not tried fix eyepoker yet.

tbh I feel i just crush 100nl now, theres no players that really give me a problem. of course im not saying im a good player since ill likely get pwned at 200nl when i finally move up. im just syaing im finding 100nl relatively easy.

Played a swongy session on saturday. up and down a buyin constantly. ended it down $30 per HM but in reality in down $150 since I played and lost more on euro tables.

I feel I played well though. Ill be def taking shots at 200nl now since ive been mining primas 200nl tables, maybe get a chance tonight if the tables are good.

Played a good bit of 200nl last night and won $144 at it. Some tough spots and one annoying opp but otherwise it was fine. I think I can beat the level. Most opps are ultra nits playing 15/10 type thing or ultra multitablers playing 8/4 lol or fish. nits are iso'ing fish nearly enough so theres plenty of room to play, theres some good regs who play a decent aggro tag game but very few of them.

i played some 100nl and donked around 50nl to end up just $ 60 or so on the day but whatever its all good. Im happy my shot worked. probably wont be playing till wed night.

BR roughly $5.9K. Almost at 6k but my roll had a highest of $6.05k a week ago!
