I recently played versus a player who folded to threebets a large % of the time, and when he did not fold he would 4bet. He opened about 60% of his Buttons. Versus this type of player do you just flat all your strong hands (AQ+, TT+, etc.) and threebet only bottom 25% (aka garbage)? Do you just threebet relentlessly till he adjusts? What adjustments do you make to players who dont open too much but fold to threebets constantly?

well imo thats the east part, problem is what do we do with the rest of our range? simply call and play OOP? hands like A8, KT etc
Isn't this the perfect guy to have a super polarized range with? I'd think you'd 3bet a ton of junk OOP and then do it with monsters too until he adjusts.
I like flatting the marginal hands too OOP.
I'm wondering what the value of a polarized 3-betting range is here if he never calls. It seems like a waste of your monsters knowing he's 95% likely to fold. It'll take him a while to notice that you NEVER stand up to his infrequent 4-bets.

I think the fact that he is fourbetting rather than calling is a good argument towards continuing to threebet monsters. However, even so it comes down to efficient value. Are we getting the most value out of AA (monsters) by threebetting them pre? Depending on the player, the answer could be no. A very aggressive cbettor/station post flop who folds to threebets pre a lot is a perfect player to flat monsters against preflop, as it strengthens your flatting pre range on later streets. (i.e. some players never flat monsters pre, which makes their postflop ranges weak when they flat. This doesn't really matter unless your opponent is very aggressive postflop, exploiting your flatting range.
That's what I was thinking about too. I think in a vacuum I think the best way to get value out of AA is to flat but once you show a standard 3betting hand down/monster such as AA then I think you have to start 3 betting them again.Quote:

i think the most likely outcome is that u should be 3betting slightly more than is optimal but not os much that he is forced to readjust... something like 12%... with that being mostly garbage and AK or something
