Hero hits FH flop, but folds??

I hit a great hand on the flop making virtually the best hand. I lay a trap here for our villain, and the worst possible card hits another K! Unfortunately for me that means any pair higher than 88 has us beat. Also if opponent has a K we are in serious trouble. As played I have to call the river, don't I?

I don't really believe in laying traps at these levels. Usually end up trapping myself :)

hrrm, this is tough. With the price you can't go wrong calling and the only hands I can really put him on is a flush draw or the K, I can't see 99-QQ or the other 8 betting all three streets and this would be a weird spot to slow play QQ/AA pre. Plus you would think he would bet more to try and get rid of the FD.

I think he has the K a lot, just not quite enough to pass on 4/1. But I don't think it's like a horrible fold.

This has to be a call IMO. It is way to easy for him to 3 barrel this board when you haven't shown aggression.

Spring the trap on the flop and wtfshove on the turn.

1. Mostly because if villan has AK, he'll re-raise and you'll get all the money in on the flop as a favorite.

2. If he just calls, you're ahead when you shove the turn. Because he didn't go nuts on the flop.

3. ?????

4. Profit.

I cannot see a reason to raise the flop. He may fold a flush draw and he'll almost certainly fold a PP. If he has a K the money is going in unless you hit running diamonds or something. I don't mind leading the flop, but C/R just lets every non K hand off the hook.

I don't understand #2 at all.

I dont mind slowplaying here. Shitty turn but theres only 2 at most Ks left in the deck to mess you over here.

The assumption is that there are 2 avenues to travel down. Check Raising the Flop will lead to either an all in confrontation where the opponent started with KQ or AK or AA or KK blah blah blah

But lets say you check raise the flop and don't get all the money in, and your opponent calls, #2 dictates that you can get a large amount of money in because his flop play screams "I don't have a king". Meaning you're way ahead.

In either situation, you get the majority of the money in as a huge favorite... which is what we want to do here.

Thanks for all the careful thoughts. I folded because I was pretty sure I was beaten (even tho I'm getting great odds). It was something to do with the speed of betting, which at these stakes usually indicates strength. My guess was he had the K, which would have been excellent for us if the 3rd K didn't hit on the river., but meh .... I managed to come back and get ITM. I'm not sure that would have happened if I had thrown in the extra 350 chips. Obviously it's an easy call in a cash game but perhaps there is some merit in a fold in a tourney?

I would call.. there are lots of block betters too at this level.. he might be block betting lots of hands here..

No, unfortunately 99-QQ and AA just caught up once the third K comes on the turn.

I find it pretty hard to fold here too, but that's more because of the pot odds we're getting rather than because I really believe we have the best hand.

Tai BJ is saying he doesn't mind the flop slow play, he knows what happened on the turn.

Ragnar if all the money goes in on the turn you are not going to be a big favorite.

Thats what I meant. On the flop there were only 2 K's left, so the chances we hit such a bad turn is fairly unlikely. Obviously we're not happy on the turn, but with those pot odds we should call I think.

Folding here wasnt terrible Nakamura. Tbh I'm more worried about 99-JJ than I am a K.
