Kinda cool hand deep 3/6
Villain is a reg who wasn't a pussy and played me when i sat down. The start of the HU i absolutely killed it, picking up a lot of hands and just stacking the shit out of him til i was up to 3300. Then he got on a run and got to this, but not without still getting owned in the process. One hand i checked behind K9 on a 3JT3Q board when action went checkcheck, betcall. Another hand i checked behind my rivered A when he had trips, which i'm sure he expected me to bet. So even with his momentum i think he might be looking to get back at me.
Oh yeah reads: He's playing kinda standard poker. Doesn't get that tricky, isn't totally spewy, but aggressive and probably hasn't gotten the chance to show his stuff. I expect him to bet any flush or T on the turn, as well as floats.
My image: Obviously i've shown up with the goods a lot. But i'm guessing he still thinks i'm capable of bluffing (cause it seems like everyone does) and making moves. I haven't been 3-betting a lot at all but since we were deep i thought i may as well start doing it. I think any hand had enough FE at this point to just 3-bet pre and c/f any flop that i missed.

tell me why not to c/f river
-
... why do you think he has an A?
-
I'm trying to put both of you on a hand, so far for you I've come up with:
AA, AT, 44, KXdd, QXdd
For him I've come up with: Tx, smaller flooooshes.
Am I way off for thinking he doesn't always bet mediocre aces on the turn and he certainly doesn't call a c/r with them?
I'm nowhere good enough to value-bet this river, and I'd probably even c/f because even though he so rarely has Ax I just don't see him betting anything else here on the river. However, when you check the river we can generally remove AA/AT from your range so now it becomes more like 44, KXdd, QXdd which means he could certainly think about bluffing the river which then means we should probably be c/c'ing the river with Ten's full but I don't know what I'd do with 4s full here.
-
The more i think about this hand the more i think betting is the best option. Shove or b/f $800 seems good.
-
I c/f this river, because he called a pretty sizeable raise on the turn so I wouldn't expect him to be peeling with some insider.
I'd imagine he'd either have an A which will bet river, or a flush which will check through if you checked.
The only hand I can imagine bluffing here is like KdQ or KdJ or something like that.
If he would bet a T on this river.. then it becomes closer. But since he's seen you capable of checking big hands, and checking behind big hands, I don't know if he's gonna value town you that thing since you can have a big hand here even after checking.
-
I really don't know why you guys think an Ace isn't a majority of his range. I don't see how else he would play a decent one. Maybe you could bluff and get him off a 10 idk. I think c/f>shove>>c/c
-
I don't think betting is as horrible as everyone thinks it is. It's actually the right play if the other guy has a flush or a T (although it's inconsistent for him to call with a flush and fold a T, at least you're freerolling in the latter case).
If you think about it, he would probably be more inclined to bet something like A-9 with no diamond rather than a hand like A-Jd, which are the only hands containing aces that would even consider calling a turn raise. So, since he is often checking behind A-x hands that would call a raise after betting, but would certainly always bet T-x or flushes, and always call raises with them, I think his range is actually very heavily weighted towards flushes and T-x, and this argues for betting.
Although, at the table I would probably end up chickening out and checking.

Lol at shoving ISF. I absolutely love it!
-
I think if I were to bet it would either be $300 or a shove for kind of obvious reasons

results were that i shoved and he folded... then he said "i think i would've done that if you checked"
i talked to him more and he implied he has KQ with a Kd or something like that.
-
I don't think you can expect him to have a hand like that very often, particularly after his bet-call on the turn, which seems really bad to me.
-
uhh i would check-fistpump call this. he checks back weak aces on turn and bets only with Tx, flushes and floats, some of which would bluff river if u check.
