This alright? Villain was running 38/8/10 over a mid-sized sample. The most glaring thing that jumped out from his stats was agg freq - 70+ % on all three streets.

Raising seems clearly bad to me - so much of his range is air that the main purpose of the raise is to tell us where we are, with the side benefit of protecting against an odd flush or straight draw. It also seems like a terrible spot to get a big pot going. I'd much rather lay there like a blanket and just keep calling.

Yah his play seems kind of odd just looking at what he showed up with. But, do you call a diamond river? An ace river? He kind of had 12 outs on the flop, if you're not calling a diamond river.

I'm honestly not sure if I would have called a diamond or not. With a guy like this I feel obligated to look him up sometimes just to keep him honest (and off my ass), but I also don't want to run him down every time I have a pair to the board, because sometimes he'll have me beat like anybody else. It might just be a gameflow/feel thing; and also, it can be based on timing tells and bet sizing. Does my gut say he wants me to call or fold? - that kind of thing.

Its not unusual at 50nl. People see a flop they dont think hit anyone so they donk it. Then they get all attached to their bluff. Its why calling down light can be good v's the right people at this level.

Yeah, like me. I donk off half or whole stacks like that at least once per 2k hands. Working on it.

nothing wrong with bluffing every once in a while Erpel, just make sure you have reasons behind your play.

I do bluff once in a while with very good reason - probably more than just once in a while too. And then sometimes I do exactly what bjsaust described here - see a flop, think they miss - take their calls to mean they don't trust me and continue for no good reason other than the pot is big and the only way I can win it is by bluffing - completely ignoring whether it's a good spot to be bluffing in and whether I have any fold equity at all.

I do also have hands where I'll bluff two streets and be too afraid to fire the third barrel, only to see the hand they showdown and KNOW that they would have folded to the third barrel if I hadn't been a chicken. That's not so much something I'm working on - it's more important to me to control my spewy plays when I've decided I have to win THIS HAND for no good reason.
