Nut flush draw.. How to play this??

Alot of calling going on at this table not a whole lot of raising at all here. For the most part, the table had been limp calling my raises pf and donk bet flatting me post flop. No stats here on anyone but went to showdown a few times each time w/ fairly strong hands but I'm not even sure if anyone paid attention.

Also these two hands came up against the most decent player at the table.

Hand 1
Villian had been pretty selective pf so I called knowing i could put him on a fairly narrow range. On the flop, I'm not convinced yet he's got the A but when he flats my turn lead, I'm almost positive he's got AK/AQ trying to get a free card to broadway. How was my turn/riv bet sizing?

I would really love to know what villians likely holdings are here. My gut was telling me he got counterfitted w/ 77 but I've seen this done way to often w/ the nuts. Will villian always have the J/AA here?

hand 1: id just bet out myself for close to pot, but if you are gonna check raise check raise harder i.e. for 3.5 or more, 2.5 simply isnt enough in this situation. The hands preety much fine from there.

hand 2: bet turn a bit harder, like 1.5 is good. id also bet more on river to as if he has the projected range your putting him on hell call, betting $3.3 sounds good to me.

hand 3: fold, youve got little invested and your right, he has the nuts here way to often.

Anyone else care to comment? Really would like a few responses..

Back to hand 1, just c-bet this flop. c/r small is really bad, all you're doing is bloating the pot when you're behind. Picking up additional outs on turn leading is fine. River you backed into a straight, I dont get the tiny bet. Go for some value please.

You should open all suited aces in all positions in any 6max game that isnt super tough.

Really? I fold ATs UTG. Then again I've known for a while that my stats are way too tight but figured I needed to open up more in later position rather than earlier.

I open A2s+ from all spots

hand 1 I don't like the bet-sizing on the flop
hand 2 folding PF would be correct here, raising the turn or river has to be +EV at 10nl as you'll be called down by Ax.
hand 3 river is one of those annoying folds, he's shipping in 250+bb's and he doesn't expect you to fold an Ace, so prove him wrong.

Yeah I know you do. You're better than me though ;). I never realised it was considered standard. I guess I need to trust myself not to get into the same trouble spots I did as a noob.

I used to fold more. Particularly I would fold worse than A9s or ATs utg, and fold A6-A7s utg+1. But then I was told, and later realized for myself, how awesome playing suited aces is vs bad opponents as well as decent opponents with a fold button.

if I remember right; in NLHTAP it's stated that the playability of a hand is mostly dictated by it's capacity to extract value after the flop.

Do you agree with that statement?


Fwiw, I've always thought Axs are often playable hands, even from UTG. But it isn't adviced very often, at least in the sources I use (FTR, 2+2, some NLH books...I read one thread in 2+2 a while back where it was mentioned as well).

It's an interesting topic imo, and a player of your quality going against the commonly giving advice triggers me to understand this.
